[action; infirmary; locked to katara and toph--read ooc note]
[Once the bones had been set and the sling tightly bound around his upper torso and shoulders to keep the one arm close to his body, Zuko was still unresponsive, but his breathing did manage to even out after a while. His chest rose and fell with each deep breath he took while unconscious, completely and blissfully unaware of whoever was in the room with him an hour after Katara and Toph had hurried him to the Infirmary for Dr. Kadowaki to tend to what Katara couldn't heal on her own.]
[ooc; right after this; if word ends up reaching the other atla cast, this is also open to you guys as well since ... well they were all in the class prior to this happening :)]

No. I'm fine. Uh.. thanks.

She then goes around and hands a paper towel filled with fruit slices to everyone excluding Zuko, and arrives to Sokka last.]
Make sure you eat them all-- they'll help with your illness! And no hotdogs for you, I can't imagine that'd be any good for you while you're sick.

Hotdog theater night will come next week, when you're mentally able to handle such awesomeness.

[When Katara plops the fruit down in his hand he sighs but crams a slice in his mouth anyway and rests a forearm on Toph's shoulder, leaning on her.] Tell Zuko to eat his! It'll help him recover from his giant lizard bites. [And he sniggers before leaning in towards Toph and whispering.] Next week. Holding you to that.

Zuko, you really should eat something.
no subject
You're not going to get any better on an empty stomach.
no subject
My, looks like you have a lot of friends, Cadet Zuko.
[She bustles over to the other side of the cot, glancing up from her clipboard to check him over.]
Any more pain, dear?
no subject
Zuko looks displeased at the 'you have a lot of friends' comment but doesn't say anything about it.]
Not right now, no. [He then makes the mistake of trying to look over at her, biting back the groan. Gritting his teeth, the tendons in his neck strain against the skin and he's only causing himself more pain, unintentionally; he squeezes his eyes shut and goes pale all over again, breathing shallowly through his nose.
Stupid- stupid--]

[Forgetting that Dr. Kadowaki is standing on just the other side of the bed, Katara summons a sheath of water to glove her hand. Immediately she presses the hand to his neck, the water glowing under her touch.]
no subject
Dear, what are you doing?
no subject
Yeah... What are you doing? What have you been doing this entire time? [Quiet, raspy words laced with pain, he can see the glow from the corner of his eye but never takes them off of her, watching her face the entire time.]

I'm... I can heal with my waterbending. It has to do with controlling the flow of chi in the body. [And she conveniently leaves out the fact that she can possess control over blood as well-- no one will ever know, if she can help it.]

Oh, dear... you may have strep throat. [She's quick to grab a pair of gloves from the cabinet before pulling them on-- tongue depressors and cotton swabs seem to come out of nowhere. As his mouth is already open and tongue stuck out, Dr. Kadowaki sticks the tongue depressor into his mouth to press his tongue down, before using the cotton swab to prod at the back of his throat.]
Now, let me go run this test to confirm the diagnosis. I'll be right back, dear-- you just sit tight.
[Off to the lab she goes.]

Zuko brings up his unbound arm slowly to try to find one of her arms, feeling along it until finding one of her hands which he touches first but then covers lightly. The skin of her hand is slightly cold to touch due to the water acting as a healing agent, but he pulls his hand away a few moments later and lifts it up to look at it.]
Healing... through waterbending...
no subject
It's just a branch of waterbending-- not everyone can do it. [There was a hint of pride in her tone as she revealed this piece of information. Seeing that he isn't showing any visible signs of pain now, Katara retracts her hands and guides the water back into the basin before picking up the napkin of fruits she had practically thrown onto his chest from her earlier haste.]
Now eat.
