003 [Quad]

[Katara has run straight from the beach back to Garden after this little incident-- and it's obvious that she's upset by the way she's crying.

She doesn't want to head back to her dorm just yet, though. A wave of homesickness has overcome her as a result of the woman's accusations, and she finds herself seeking something that reminds her a little of home, of her world at least. So her feet carry her off towards the Quad, the particular area empty for once as people were enjoying the change of scenery outside the floating school.

Situating herself beneath one of the large trees, Katara hugs her legs to her chest before burying her face into her knees, body curled up into a protective ball.]

[And the mental imagery of a very furry Sokka with a huge tail and horns causes a laugh to bubble out from her. Her hands lift to rest on his, squeezing gently.]

I hope so. I'm glad we're all here together, but this isn't where we belong. And now that we're all here... who knows what's going on back in our world?

I don't know if much is, Katara. When I talked to Toph it sounded like she had about a week or so on me... and I was there. And so were you. I kinda think this is like...

[What had Auron said?]

An alternate reality? [He hugs her again, just for good measure.] And there's no way we're not getting home.

[She pulls back slightly from his embrace, a brow lifted in a questioning manner-- but for once, she doesn't question it. Especially since Aang sounded as though he was from the future as well.. and there was plenty of strange things going on in this world.

Katara wipes the last of her tears away, and once she's done, she can't help but give Sokka another hug.]

[Sokka squeezes Katara tightly.] I love you, Katara. We just have to stay optimistic.

[She reaches up then, fingers pinching his cheek and pulling slightly-- totally not in a motherly way.] I love you too, Sokka.

Anyways, what are you doing out here? Have you gone into town yet?

[He pries her fingers away and twines them into his, letting them fall between them--and he might raise the other hand to rub at his cheek.] I had taken a nap--was on my way out when I found you. I don't know, I was thinking about trying to find another bag. I miss my old one.

[Shopping? Katara's expression lights up, and she gives his hand a small squeeze.]

Do you want me to come with you? You don't really have the best taste...

[SOKKA LOOKS TOTALLY APPALLED.]

Don't have the best taste?? My taste is amazing! I'm tastier than--

[And that reminds him of a little conversation that he and Zuko had not that far back. Dropping the subject of his taste in fashion (because hello, there's nothing to argue), Sokka folds his arms over his chest.]

Hey. I heard that you attacked Zuko. You only told me about the one time, Katara, when you guys got detention for it. Did you really attack him after that?

[Uh oh.

For a fleeting moment, she manages to look sheepish-- that is until she remembered it was Zuko they were talking about, and he had deserved it! So Katara crosses her own arms, adopting a slightly huffy tone.]

Well... there was one other time. But he was provoking me!

[Big brother is out in full force now, scowling in his wayward sister's direction.] So you attacked him? What would Sifu Pakku have to say about that, huh?

[Oh, as if she's going to let Sokka lecture her! Even though she's still sitting, Katara puts her hands on her hips.]

It was the full moon-- he caught me at a bad time! And it doesn't help that the moon here is weird.

They're all very specific. Damn kid forced me to buy a paid account for all his faces!

What? What do you mean the moon is weird? [He looks up like he could see it in the middle of the day if he tried hard enough.]

I don't know... I've been trying to figure it out myself. But it made me feel especially strange and restless so I had to do something about it- I went to the Training Center to see if it'd help but of course Zuko had to be there.

[Great, she doesn't know? Now he's gotta worry about Yue too? Sokka frowns, turning his attention back to Katara.] Please tell me you didn't blood bend him, Katara.

What?

[And Katara is offended now-- how could Sokka think she'd do such a thing? She never wanted to learn how to blood bend in the first place! She places a hand on her chest, her eyes narrowed as her expression clouds.]

Of course I didn't! What do you think I am, a monster? I never want to blood bend, even if it is Zuko!

I know you don't, but you're the one who said the full moon made you feel weird! Katara, you shouldn't have attacked him at all. I know you don't trust him and you don't know that he's proved himself--but can you please, please trust me? I talked to him! He's not bad, Katara!

I haven't attacked him since! And I couldn't help it that night-- my body just needed to get something out of it's system. Besides, that was before you arrived-- I've kept to my word since I last promised you I wouldn't start anything.

[Sokka's expression softens at that; he nods.]

I talked to him a couple days ago and he seems... I don't know. Really confused. He said the last thing he remembers is Ba Sing Se and you even told me yourself--well, you would have told me if you'd stayed in our world. Or. Something--that you believed that he was maybe a good person deep down.

I know he sided with Azula and attacked you right after that but come on Katara--can you try to give him a chance?

[Her eyes lower as she remembers what had happened down at the catacombs-- and the memory only serves to flare her anger somewhat.]

I thought he had changed, but he proved to me that he didn't. It's going to take a lot more from him to show that he's really sincere, if he even is. If he was so easily influenced to join Azula, what's to say he won't do it again? He turned his back on us when we needed him most.

I don't think he did. He'd never been our friend before that--and talking to you about mom doesn't count. [Sokka sighs, rubbing the back of his head. His hair was really starting to get long.]

He didn't turn his back on me at Boiling Rock, so. I'm not going to turn my back on him now. You don't have to like him--just keep your promise.

[She makes a disgruntled sort of noise, her arms tightening across her chest as she looks off to the side. And okay, that might be a small pout.]
