[Koriand'r had come to the realization that classes would be starting soon and she'd have to follow the schedule that was set up. As much as she preferred to not have such a rigid schedule, there was nothing she could do so she had decided to take one of the last few days of freedom to fly.

It was her own personal sense of freedom, flying through the air, the sun that much closer. She was most at home here, when she was floating through the sky. The lake is not too far below her. In her wake is the red contrail that trails behind her as she flies. She is actively trying to stay low enough that hopefully people from this world won't see her.

After sometime she will come back on her own, landing in the Quad]

[A blue blur with a rainbow wake races by.]

[Rainbow abruptly yanks her head around at the sight of (what she thinks is) a human. In the sky. Flying. So great is her surprise that she completely fails to look where she's flying.]

[Into the topmost branches of a tree she flies, and leaves scatter everywhere.]

[Koriand'r looks back over as something races by her, leaving a rainbow contrail zips passed her. She immediately looks back as well, also not watching where she was going. Rather than hitting a tree, she drifts a little too low and gets wet from the lake,

She pulls back up, going to see what had just flown into the tree]

Hello?

[The tree almost explodes as Rainbow bursts back out of it, pointing a hoof at Starfire in accusatory shock.]

HOW ARE YOU DOING THAT?!

[curiouseyes]

[She just looks horribly surprised as the pony bursts out of the tree. She hadn't been expecting to see a pony flying out the tree. She hadn't seen any of the ponies in person yet, not to mention a flying one]

All of my people can fly. This is nothing strange. You can fly too?

Yeah, but -- I'm a PEGASUS. I have WINGS.

[She gestures back to said wings, which are keeping her aloft with even beats.]

You don't! How are you staying up in the air?!

[curiouseyes]

But with just the wings, you were going very fast.

[She didn't know much about flying with wings. Garfield might have had a better idea]

My people absorb energy from sunlight and we use that to power flight.

But...

[She's starting to sound like Ed, doubting things that are obviously happening just because they don't make sense to her. She shakes her head, decides to chalk this up as 'magic', and move on.]

I've never seen a human fly before. So everypony from where you're from can do this?

[curiouseyes]

I'm not human. I'm a Tamaranean. We just look like humans. All Tamaraneans can fly. Some humans can but they aren't like normal humans.

Oh... sorry. You LOOK human.

[Rainbow didn't know enough to know that orange skin and whatnot isn't a human trait at all. They had OTHER colors of skin, why NOT orange?]

What's the difference? Aside from the flying. Which I hope you can do a lot faster than you just were, by the way!

No, its okay. Most people don't realize that I'm not.

Well, our skin color is difference. Our eyes are solid green. We are stronger than humans.

And of course I'm much faster! I was just leisurely.

Much faster, huh? Sounds like a challenge!

Race ya back to Garden!

[She wasn't one to turn down a challenge like that]

[And once Rainbow Dash is ready - so she doesn't get an unfair head start - she will head back towards the Garden as fast as she can go]

[Rainbow Dash rears back, then explodes forward in a rush of speed! Wings flapping, hooves outstretched, teeth gritted as she rips through the sky, rainbow mane leaving a streak in the air behind her!]

[Koriand'r is keeping up, but just barely, slowly falling behind. She doesn't have to maintain this type of speed usually, so she's pushing herself to keep up with the pony and try to beat her back to the Garden]

[What? Whoa, no way, this girl is faster than she looks! Rainbow Dash stretches her hooves out, flattens her body as much as she can, and pours on the speed!]

[curiouseyes]

[And that's when Koriand'r really starts to lose ground, but she's not going to give up. She tries to speed up as much as she can, trying not to get too far behind. This was definitely a good challenge for her]

[Man, how fast does this flying girl go?! Rainbow sets her shoulders, locks her rear legs, and flaps. To the extent that a shockwave is starting to form in front of her.]

[curiouseyes]

[And that's the point where she's pretty much lost. She just can't keep up with that and she's burning up her energy reserve faster than normal and as much as she likes the sun, she doesn't want to have to spend the rest of the daylight trying to recharge. So as much as she doesn't want to, she has to slow down]

[When she finally reaches the spires and ring of Balamb proper, it's to find a pony waiting in midair, grinning broadly -- and not even breathing hard.]

Hey, you're fast!

[It's easy to be gracious in victory.]

[Koriand'r isn't breathing hard either though she is bit more tired after that since she pushed herself. She smiles]

[She may not like to lose, but she's a good loser if it is a friendly match]

I am. I only arrived a few weeks ago. I haven't taken any classes yet.
