So, um. I saw my name mentioned earlier with this Homecoming thing as one of the 'princesses'. But, see, the thing is? I never did anything like this Homecoming back home, so I don't really know what to expect. I was told it's like some kind of competition, with recruiting or something? How does this work, exactly?
Since this is supposed to be a competition, good luck to all you others who were nominated! I'm sure this Homecoming will be a lot of fun!

It's my first Homecoming as well, but it seems to be a lot like the prom court our school dances had at home. You're campaigning for votes---trying to convince the other people in Garden to vote for you as Princess. We'll cast our ballots, and the people with the most votes in each category will be Homecoming King, Queen, Prince, and Princess.
You'll wear a crown and dance with the Prince if you win. Other things might happen as well, but I'm not sure about those.

That doesn't sound so bad though, thanks for explaining it to me. So what exactly does campaigning involved?

It's your choice. Some people talk to their friends and acquaintances, asking them to vote for them. Others put up posters that might say something like 'Rapunzel for Princess'. Other people offer to trade favors, like 'I'll vote for you if you'll help me with my homework for two days'.
It can get ugly sometimes, but I'm sure you won't need to be underhanded to win people over, Miss Rapunzel.

Underhanded? I'm sure it won't get that overboard. I'll be fine!
