I've got some Star Fragments and screws. I don't know what the trade rate is for them, but I'm willing to barter for them if you don't want me to just hand them over. :)

Those would be wonderfully helpful! I'd need the turtle shells and chef's knifes for that weapon, but if I can get those, that's an incredibly good upgrade!

Sounds like a fair enough trade! Could we make that into an IOU for something in the future? I'm not really sure what I need right now, since they don't really make arrowheads here...

Can we synthesize stronger arrowheads? The stores didn't seem like they could do it, but I don't mind trying on my own.

[It's quiet enough that Touma is sitting around reading a travel magazine rather than doing anything medical, though he glances up when he hears someone come in.]

Maria, it's good to see you uninjured.

[He offers her a handful of cards - it's the free Geezards and Mesmerizes he promised, more of the former than the latter.]

[She smiles at that, wry, which turns to delight as she accepts the cards.]

Oh, perfect! I just need to get an electromagnet now!

[There's never a response to this on the BBS, because instead it takes the form of Maria charging to the dorm and banging on his door!]

[No surprise that he yanks open the door with a sour look on his face, then. Then again, it becomes a smile when it's Maria and not some random stranger banging on his door.]

[She'll answer in a minute, dummy! First things first: without preamble, she grabs him in a rib-endangering hug.]

Maria, I--[The squeak he makes as she starts to crush his ribs would probably amuse anyone else. He just tries to take a deep breath.]

I'm happy to see you too, but I need those ribs to live!

[Touma smiles back just as wryly and nods, but her reaction is too amusing infectious for him to stay wry for long.] Gunblade upgrades again?

[He can have them back in a moment, as she releases him finally, then grabs his shoulders to hold him out at arm's length and look him over.]

Absolutely. As much as I can. I know I'm lucky to have one already, but... I want more! Can you blame me?

[He chuckles softly.] Not at all. I get like this over computers.

[After clearing a space on his desk, he holds up the Hexadragon card.] Ready to play?

[And then Maria ventures down a dark and unwholesome path that could possibly destroy the game of Triple Triad worldwide...]

I picked up a new rule in Dollet, you want to try using it?

What's the rule?

Elemental. You know how some cards have elemental symbols? When you play them on the corresponding symbol, all their faces are one point stronger.

Oh, I enjoy Elemental. Let's use it.

[Hey, Maria wants to win cards, not spend all day slamming her head against the wall. She digs out of her pocket the Elemental card that offers a quick guide on placing the symbols, then consults it.]

Okay, pick a number between one and 99.

Sixty-four.

[gunbladegrrl]

[She pulls out a couple of cards from the booklet, and places a little fire and a little earth symbol on the desk between them.]

Technically we're supposed to roll dice, but I don't have any dice, so this is good enough.

[youngnobelman]

[He chuckles lightly.] I have dice in my room, but I suppose it is a bit far.

Open hands and Trade 1, yes?

[gunbladegrrl]

Mmhmm! [She digs out her deck with a smile, quickly sorting through her cards to select five of them.]

[He picks out his own five cards, before producing a coin.]

Your call for first play. Or second, whichever you'd prefer.

Heads. [She prefers second either way, but doesn't voice that, lest he win and it bias his choice...]

[He flips...

[And it's heads.] Your choice.
