[The warm, sunny day is too pleasant for Yuna to stay indoors, so she's studying outside during her lunch break. She's sitting on a bench with her laptop perched on her knees, finishing off her sandwich while she reads through her class materials. Exams are coming up, so she's trying to follow the advice she'd heard about preparing early; it isn't going too well. She keeps watching people as they walk by, and there's too much noise for her to concentrate. Maybe a study partner would help?]

[Whistling as he goes wandering about, clearly with nothing to do. Quick! Grab him before the birds all come join him!]

[Oh look, it's that flying, talking, pastel pony who shares a few classes with Yuna. She stops in midair as she approaches, one hoof rubbing the back of her neck as she hovers there.]

Can I... [She looks left, then right, checking to see if anyone is paying attention, then back to Yuna.] Can I ask your help with something?

[Yuna watches him walk by, when it suddenly clicks that he was the one who recently got married. She sets her laptop down and runs up to him.]

Hello! I'm Yuna. I...congratulations on getting married.

[She feels a little embarrassed for just running up to him like that, so she defaults to normal behavior and bows.]

[Flying ponies are still something Yuna isn't used to! She does a double-take before realizing that it's Rainbow Dash.]

Hello! [She closes her laptop and smiles warmly.] Sure. What can I help you with?

[Still nervous, she looks around again before dropping down to the ground and leaning in conspiratorially.]

Pegasus ponies, we... don't do magic. It's a unicorn thing. So I'm not really... you know, getting it.

[He grins happily anyway and bows back slightly.]

Thanks eh! I'm pretty lucky. Marco, if you don't already know. [Offers a handshake.]

Raidou was seated on a bench nearby, but after a moment of observing Yuna, made his way toward her. "Excuse me, may I have a seat here?"

Hearing a voice, Yuna looks up and sees a young man standing beside her. "Oh! Please, feel free."

She picks up her bag and sets it down on the ground, freeing up bench space. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, she offers a friendly smile. "My name is Yuna. Are you...new here?"

[She has no idea what a "pegasus" or "unicorn" is, but she decides not to worry about that and instead focuses on the needing help bit.]

I see. Magic on this world is strange to me, too. Where I'm from, anyone can learn magic if they study.

...I'm sorry, would you like to talk somewhere more private? [She's noticed that Rainbow keeps looking around.]

Look, just don't let on that I'm having trouble, okay? Or that I'm asking someone for help. I've been doing way too much of that lately and it's making me look like a stupid egghead.

Raidou gave her a smile, tipped his hat briefly, then sat down, tucking the paperback book in his hand under one arm. "Raidou. And yes, this will be my first term. I gather it isn't yours?"

[Yuna just laughs, which probably isn't the bet response.]

I won't tell anyone, I promise. I...might not be the best teacher, but I'm willing to try if you are.

We could go to my dorm room if you want. I don't think Kate will be back until late.

"This is my first term, actually! I arrived at the very end of last term. How do you like it here?"

[It certainly makes her tail flip in irritation.]

I had to work really hard to convince them to give me a chance here. I'm not going to mess it up!

[Yuna shakes his hand, bowing her head repeatedly to compensate for her embarrassment.] It's nice to meet you!

You're a SeeD, aren't you?

"It's... different, to say the least. I had to attend classes back home as well, but they usually left me more liberty for my part-time job. And I do miss the old soda joint now and then. But all in all, things could be much worse. A place to stay and study, a chance to see a world other than my own..." He trailed off.

On the other hand, there was no telling when they'd decide to fill his position back home.

Aye. Graduated and been on missions and everything.

[She nods in understanding while gathering everything up and putting it back in her bag.]

Okay, let's go! --oh, we should go to the library first and check out a few books.

"I know what you mean. I miss my home terribly, but I'm happy here."

She's been a bit sad ever since Rikku left, but at least she knows they'll see each other again. She clasps her hands together and lets them rest in her lap.

"We didn't have any kind of classes like this, though they did offer training for the priesthood that took a long time to complete. Same with magic training."

She falls silent for a moment and stares at the ground, before she realizes she's being rude. Looking up at him, she searches for something to say. "...You had a job? What did you do?"

[If only Rainbow had learned to love books before coming to Garden!]

Ugh, all right, I guess. But no one can ever know.

"Priesthood? I didn't know priests believed in magic." Of course, it was entirely possible that they did wherever Yuna had come from. But it his own world, 'priesthood' generally meant the Christian church.

"I was studying under a local detective by the name of Shouhei Narumi. He was fairly famous in the Capital, so there were plenty of smaller cases I could investigate without much supervision." He paused. "Not to say that he wasn't a good teacher, of course. But he was the sort to let me feel my own way around."
