[001. action]
[Lucas is in the lobby, pacing back and forth with the course catalog in one hand and a sheet of paper covered in faintly Arabic-looking handwriting and random English letters in the other. He's frowning alternately at each of the items, and occasionally muttering badly accented English words under his breath and waiting for his translator to respond in a musical foreign tongue.]
...Weapons. [It responds, and he sticks the sheet of paper in his mouth for a moment to scribble on the course catalog with the stub of a pencil.] Specialist.
[Nothing; he frowns more deeply and repeats the word with several different emphases until the translator responds. He mutters something under his breath in the same musical language.]
Damn it to the deepest hell. [...says the device.] Fighters. What a waste of time.
[A thick pencil line goes through that entire paragraph, and he turns his attention to the next, consulting the piece of paper once more.]

Hey. Are you alright? You seem purrty frustrated there.

Fine, thank you. Trying to make sense of this. [He flicks a hand dismissively at the course catalog and tucks his phonics cheat-sheet into the back cover.]
Do you read this language?

Do you need help with any of it?

[He holds the catalog out, looking less than pleased, one finger tapping the Para-magic major course list.] What are all these for? Are they numbers?

These are each specializations. There are some classes that are mandatory to take, so you don't have to choose right away if you want to get those out of the way first, but after some time you choose one or two. Just a concentration. The numbers are class numbers. Some are basic classes---those are the lower ones, and then there are more advanced classes which sometimes require that you take a different course furst.

[Ugh, too complicated.]

[He goes back to staring at the book, willing the letters to make more sense.] Who are you?

I'm purrty sure they have classes fur people who have difficulty with it.
Heh, sorry, he's still relying on the machine! ;;
Ah. I will have to enroll in one.
dsfji OOPs. No worries, tis my slip up xD
Oh! Eheh, I see. [She nods] They're purrty helpful in those classes. They're a bit more focused on the individual--to be expected since we get people furrom all sorts of places that speak diffurent languages.

[Is she turning green?] Do you feel well?

[Still dubious -- she looks very strange, but that's makeup... isn't it?]

[He shakes off the surprise, visibly trying to pretend that this is perfectly normal.]
I suppose that it only makes sense, with people from different ... worlds.
