Second Dawn ♞ Action | Training Center

[Riku's nearly making a second home out of the training center at this rate. Ever since classes started and a particular, familiar looking kid arrived, he's been in there nearly everyday. Not all the time though. He needs to be around for Kairi's sake and be around her long enough as to not make her worried about him. But while he's here, he's pushing himself as hard as he can, practicing his magic and sharpening his swordsmanship skills with an almost dance-like routine with his Keyblade. It's not going to help flush away the memory of seeing a younger version of him with those weapons, but he's hoping it might help exhaust him to the point of not wanting to care anymore.

Except for the fact that he maaaay have bitten off more than he can chew with a T-Rexaur. It's harder to take down than most of the others, making him idly wonder if a Gunblade is any easier. But eventually, the beast falls. But no matter how hard he's panting, or how exhausted he feels, Riku just keeps going after the next enemy. And the next.]

[Oddly, his question may be about to be answered.]

It's one of those keys that's also a sword! I've heard about them!

[Maria comes eagerly up from down the path, eyeing the Keyblade curiously. And she's carrying a gunblade in each hand.]

[He doesn't want to stop, but he can't help it when he hears her. It's no one he recognizes, and probably hasn't met Sora either.

He slips into a more relaxed stance, so that he can split his attention in between the enemies and her.]

Mind if I ask how you know of it?

Oh, I have an interest in unusual weapons. Someone mentioned it to me, but I forget who!

[The truth is, the mentioned had been entirely unrelated to keyblades; the person in question had actually been thinking of a weapon from their own world (http://www.wowhead.com/item=37871).]

[She recognizes him, though! They have Magic and Limit Break classes together.]

[He looks at her curiously and then back to the Keyblade.]

It wouldn't have happened to be a boy with spiky brown hair, would it? [Because, really, it would give him hope that his best friend got here.]

You're in a couple of my classes, I think. Limit Break Theory?

No, it was a girl named Ronnae. Green skin, very nice. [Big difference there!]

And Magic, yes. I'm Maria. [Gotta get those friendly introductions done!]

[Eye brow raise. Green skin, huh?] I'll have to keep an eye out for her then.

Right. I'm Riku, nice to meet you.

You should. She's a good person and a great fighter.

[She smiles at him -- meeting new people is always good! -- but her gaze keeps wandering right on back to the Keyblade.]

Good. I could use someone to spar against. The creatures they have here don't cut it all the time.

[He notices her wandering eyes and entertains the idea of dismissing it, but he doesn't want to be so rude.]

So you use the Gunblades they have here?

Oh, you must be trained or have some powers already. I wouldn't take on a T-Rexaur without being a lot stronger than I am now.

[Helpfully, she reverses her grips on the gunblades, holding them up so he can get a look at them.]

Yes, these are Dragon model blades, they're designed for one-handed use. They're kind of old-fashioned, especially if you look at some of the more modern types like Revolver, Hyperion, or Vanishing Star.

Well, maybe not a T-Rexaur, but a few of the others don't give that much of a challenge. And there's nothing wrong with fighting someone trained either.

[He's seen a lot of them used in his classes, but hadn't taken the opportunity to really try one.]

For dual wielding. Interesting. I've been a bit tempted to try and use one but haven't.

Well, you're using a key, so I'm not sure the "these are tricky weapons" speech really applies here.

The main thing that's different besides the trigger mechanism is the grip. Since the grip isn't like a hilt, in a straight line with the blade, it takes some serious adjustment to get used to using it like that if you're used to a normal sword.

[Tsukasa's standing to the far back, taking pictures as in his wont. There's not much to say, other than the kid does seem to be pushing himself to his limit.]

[Riku ignored most of the clicking, passing it off for someone else training the area. But when he looks over and sees the camera, he stops immediately, eyes blazing with anger.]

Turn that off and don't take anymore.

[Click. Just another picture. But Tsukasa looks up, a faint amused smirk on his face.]

It's all right, I've gotten what I needed. It's not like a picture does harm.

[Does he care? No, not really. He'd rather take pictures anyhow.]

[Don't give him reason to wipe that smirk off more than he already wants to.]

That may be so, but not everyone enjoys having their picture taken without their permission. I better not see any of those floating around the Garden.

[It's not him that he's worried about. More like the Keyblade itself.]

I have no intention of doing so. My goal is to capture worlds, not spread photos around.

[Completely nonplussed.]

Hmph, fine. But not everyone's going to appreciate their picture being taken.

[And he goes right back to training, running for the nearest monster.]

I already know that. Better to ask forgiveness than permission though. [Click goes his shutter of a nearby monster.]

[His eyes flicker over to other teen when he has a chance, just to make sure the camera wasn't aimed at him.]

If only that were easy for everyone.

Maybe for some people. [Click. More pictures of monsters and flora.]

[Holy crap, he's good with that thing.

Lea's really just here to throw his weapons around a bit -- see if he can take on something small, maybe -- but that display on the other side of the Training Center caught his eye. And, well, then he just couldn't resist stopping to watch.

Riku's weapon looks like the real version of that toy Ventus had. What are those, anyway?

Don't mind him, he'll just stay here. And make plans. Because he is totally going to be that awesome when he's older, there is no other choice.]

[He's getting that feeling of being watched, but he's throwing himself into so much of the movements he's making, Riku's pretty much ignoring that feeling. It's not until he defeats one of those bug things that looks over and sees Lea.

Riku's not entirely sure what to think about Lea seeing the Keyblade, but it's not as if he can take it back now. So he'll just raise a hand in greeting to the redhead.]

[Lea's raising a hand to wave back at him, since it looks like he's not busy for at least a couple seconds here.]

Not bad, Riku! What is that thing?

[Hey, he can take a break for a while. He slowly makes his way over to him.]

Just a weapon I've had for a year or two. [Even if is from their world, he doesn't need to know what it is exactly.] What are you up to?

Isn't a key kind of a weird weapon? [Riku didn't seem to be having any trouble kicking butt with it, though. He shrugs it off.]

I was just gonna practice a bit, maybe fight something.

Just a little different, but it works. [He smirks. At least Way to the Dawn is a little more blade-like. Sora's keychains always look like the actual key.]

Practicing's always a good idea. Do you have any experience?

Sure I do! [He whips out one of his metal discs, setting it spinning briefly around a finger.] I've never fought a monster before, but the little ones oughta be a piece of cake.

[He watches those disks for a minute. Though he's never gone toe-to-toe with Axel, they do really remind him of the older Nobody.]

Hmm, well, they still might be tough. Want me to back you up?

[Shrugging with a grin. Yeah, now he's definitely not going to admit he's never tried fighting a monster before....]

Hey, if you wanna I'm not going to stop you!
