What am I looking for anyway? [Action | Like, everywhere]

[Morning finds Edge wandering about Garden. Not looking lost, precisely, but looking as if he lost something and doesn't even know what it is.]

[Every so often he stops to peer at some object. A clock, a railing, a sign, something floating in the lobby's water. After a moment he frowns, shakes his heads, and moves on.]

There was someone she recognized, actually probably the first person she ever met in the school, if not one of the firsts. But what was he doing...?

Ronnae approached cautiously and peered from nearby, looking at what ever it was that he was looking at.

"Lose somethin'?"

Looking for... inspiration.

[The ninja crosses his arms, looking long and hard at a random plant that someone had left lying beside a bench.]

I want to get Kat something nice and I'm looking for inspiration.

[Ronnae looked at him weirdly for a few moments. Blinked a few times.]

Kat? A mate then? [She asked curiously, looking around to see what he had been searching through already. If the Garden wasn't inspiration, what exactly was he trying to get inspired by?]

I'm... not sure that's quite the proper term. [But he's working on it.] Girlfriend, I suppose...?

Oh! Neat!

Have ya tried askin' her what type of things she likes? Maybe you've heard her talk about something in particular she's been wantin'?

I can't come out and ask her! That would ruin the surprise! She likes bows and ranged weapons, and animals.

That's true...

How about a new bow? A really awesome one!

[Yes Ronnae, weapons are the way into a woman's heart... Well it worked in Azeroth so why not?!]

Or a pet, if she likes animals a pet would be nice!

She's pretty specific on what she likes. I don't think I could get one for her that has the weight and length and all that just how she likes it, you know? Believe me, I'd thought about it!

Well what about a pet? Or maybe a mount? Take her out for a nice meal that's not in the Garden?

[She was trying here!]

Garden Code, pets aren't allowed... not that that stops anyone, but she has a few already because they're trained combat animals. I don't think I could get my hands on a chocobo for a gift...

The meal is kind of trite, you know? That's standard date stuff. I want to go above and beyond here!

Hmm... Maybe you can get her a socketed weapon! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2wJW6WYfZY) take her someplace really special? Not just for dinner but, maybe someplace that might mean a lot to you and get her a nice gift to go along with it.

A nice secluded place just for the two of you.

How about jewelery? Maybe a really nice necklace?

We've been out to the beach sometime... I suppose there's that, but...

Same thing with jewelry, that's what ORDINARY men get ORDINARY girls! I need to give her something amazing! If she doesn't faint from shock I've shot too low.

I... I guess I can't really help you then... I'm below ordinary so what I might find interesting will definitely not be good enough for such an amazing girl.

I didn't know we had crowds and a social ladder here. And I think I would have known, because I'd be on top of it in my rightful place!

[Ronnae smiled timidly.]

I'm sure you are. And there's always social ladders, at least.... at least from my experience, no matter where you go, even if it's more subtle than in other places.

Well, take it from me, if you work hard and kick butt you're fine here. And I have no idea how you're doing on the first part, but I've seen the second and it passes!

W-well... I am trying. [Frankly, it was just harder adjusting on a social spectrum, as always for Ronnae.]

I'm getting perfect grades on my classes and I'm going for my third quarter, so I know I can do it...

[Wait, had he just complimented her? She blushed and looked down, averting his gaze.]

I... w-well. I've always been a fighter soooo... t-thanks.

Well, clearly you're a good one, and clearly you're smart and working hard. I'm not seeing what the problem is here...

[She wanted to keep protesting, but she knew better. It wasn't as if she hadn't had this conversation many times before. And sure, she hadn't felt it as intensely as in other places, but that feeling was still there, so she simply smiled and looked down.]

Anyway, even if you do feel left out, trust me! Strength and courage are better and more necessary than smarmy ingratiation any day!

[She smiled, he was the same as last time they had met, and that was nice.]

I don't doubt you're a good king. I'll... I'll keep that in mind.

[Kate arches an eyebrow as she watched Edge start intently at a nearby clock. She has a bow in one hand and her quiver strapped to her back.]

...See something you like?

No, and that's the problem! Quick, you're a girl, what do girls like to get for presents from the guys they're seeing?

Uhhh [Blinks. It's not that the question has her stumped, but rather she wasn't expecting it.] Well, I can't speak for all girls, as we're all different, but typically we like something that shows that you've been listening or paying attention to what we like.

The girl in question likes ranged weapons and animals. The latter she's got a bunch of, and the former, I don't want to get because I couldn't get something anywhere nice as she deserves and would want without spoiling the surprise. And she's already got nice weapons too!

So I'm kinda stumped.

[Crosses her arms as she thinks.] Why don't you do something with her, then? Go into town, treat her to a nice dinner. Do they have plays here? Take her to something like that if you think she'd like it.

Dinner seems so mundane, though. I mean, I get that memories are good, but I want to give her something physical. But jewelry is trite.

Urgh, if I was back in Eblan I'd just have a portrait commissioned or something! She's a hard one to do nice things for.

Well I know with me, it would depends on the jewelry. If it looks like you put thought into it, I'd like it more than if it seems to be just picked one at random. But she might not be the jewelry type, so it really depends...

Have you tried wandering through town and seeing if there's anything interesting?

Town is my next stop, but I was hoping I'd find something inspiring here. She's from off-world too, so...

Hmm, maybe something for her companions!

Well if she's off world maybe she might find some of the jewelry here exotic.

You mean her animals?

Yes, they're all trained to fight at her side. Not that they do too much of that just around Garden, but I've seen her fox take on things twenty times its size and come away the victor. It's a little scary sometimes.

That's... kind of really cool.

What would you get for them though?

Hmm. Maybe nice collars so everyone knows they're animal companions and not just pets or beasts or something.

[Small smile.] Looks like I wasn't any help at all.
