[ Rocking forward onto his toes, nimble fingers snag a book from one of the shelves and draw it down to tuck under his arm. It was easiest, most days, to find Professor Xavier in the library or in his office. As of late, more so the library, picking up new bits of information for the students and welcoming any questions that might need answering. If nothing else he was a friendly man, albeit a tad arrogant at times. A few steps to the side and down another aisle he pauses as he slides a chess stratagem book he plucked secondly from the shelf over the much heavier mathematical biology book. Wrapping his arms securely about the set he makes his way down toward the public computers. He had a simple little note to put up before he decided to slink back to his office and spend the evening reading; ]

Dear TAC 101 & BIO 101 Students; While I have always been one to appriciate creativity in most forms, I find that writing a section into your essay of 'why it should get an A' is more detrimental than anything otherwise to your grade. I'm not going to point anyone out specifically, but those few know who you are. I simply didn't count the section toward your overall word count and have sent the essays back to your inbox. Other than that everyone seems to be doing rather well, I'll see you in class. Professor Charles Xavier

Come in--! [ He folds his book on the desk, head lifting and turned toward the office door. ] It's unlocked. [ He doesn't seem surprised to see her (when does he seems surprised to see anyone, really?) and neatly folds his hands on the desk. ]

What can I do for you young miss?

[Door is shoved open]

It's Toph. I need to talk to you about class.

[She's just standing off to the side, not looking at him]

[Ever since she read the PM, Cissie figured it might be a good idea to head over to Professor's office and see how he's doing. Well that, and she's struggling a little with a concept from last week.

So she tentatively knocks on his door:] Instructor Xavier? Is now a good time?

Alright, well you're welcome to have a seat. [ He gestures toward the chair with a soft smile. ] What can I do you for?

[ He lifts his head form his stack of papers and smiles, [ Almost anytime is a good time, provided I'm not sleeping. [ A light chuckle, the humor behind his words apparent before he gestures for her to have a seat. ]

What can I help you with?

[Toph comes closer, but doesn't actually sit. She's a little short and can't have her feet on the ground]

Is there any way you can use less writing? I can't exactly read, and I actually like tactics and stuff.

[ Because Erik is totally an irresponsible teacher and doesn't care much for whether not his students pass (read: he's going to flunk them anyway), Charles' message only serves to provide him amusement and a reminder to check on his friend.

He catches Charles' in his office, reading a chess stratagem book of all things. Erik figures Charles has already sensed his presence and spoke up. ]

Still reeling from the loss I handed you the last time we played?

I could try, or I could give you an alternative method of learning, but perhaps some sort of audio based lesson plan. [ If the child enjoyed learning, Charles would put forth an effort to make it much easier for her to do so. ]

[ His head lifts once he's marked his spot in the book with that light blue bookmark, a gift from a student of his. A small amused smile crossing his lips, obviously unfazed by Erik's entrance or his comment. ]

Reeling? Hardly, but I figure there's always room to learn more, don't you think, Erik?

[Toph just likes anything involving fighting. And maybe proving Sokka wrong]

As long as it doesn't involve writing, I'm good. No offense, but it's really hard not to fall asleep when your just sitting there.

I'd say it depends on what you have yet to learn.

[ Without waiting for Charles to invite him in, he takes a seat opposite him, settling into the seat rather comfortably. ]

I hope you're not babying your students too much.

Perfectly reasonable, I'll find something more adaptable to your limitations and strengths. I'm glad you came and spoke to me about this, I've been terribly inconsiderate I must say.

Eh, I'm used to it. Normally it doesn't bug me too much, but I actually like tactics. It's, y'know, actually useful.

[ He scoffs, just faintly as he intertwines his fingers and settles them atop his closed book. ]

I'm not babying them, I'm encouraging them-- something you might want to look into, Erik. Positive reinforcement works wonders in comparison to negative.

[ He looks back at Charles, not amused in the slightest. ]

Sure it does. Until someone takes positive reinforcement too far and you can't differentiate between them. They should learn to be self sufficient.

Of course they should, and they will. Like I said, I'm not babying them. I'm a perfectly capable teacher and you know that so please spare me the semantics. [ He hums an amused note, not at all fazed by Erik's ire. ]

All your classes are useful-- Obviously you have an interest in battle, judging by your favoring of tactics, but I assure you other classes can also be useful.

Ballroom dancing?

Movement and grace, efficiency on your feet, a sense of balance and swiftness, learning to read and time yourself according to someone else's movements-- dance is very closely related to battle.

Yeah, but if you can do all that already, it's just kind of...pointless. And way too girly.

It's not pointless, a person can always improve on their skills. [ A soft chuckle passes his lips. ] Too girly oh?

[The look on Toph's face says it all.]

So tell me, what is wrong with something being girly?

Other than the fact that girly equals wussy? The only slightly girly warriors I ever met were the Kyoshi Warriors, and they're only barely 'girly'. You can't be tough if you're girly.
