[A person in a fencing uniform is attempting to balance a cello case, a bow case, a large duffel bag, and a school bag.  The fencing helmet is balancing precariously on the duffel bag, revealing that the person trying to carry all of it is a teenaged girl.  A very annoyed teenaged girl.]

Tommy!  Tommy!  This isn't cute or funny or whatver you think this is.  I have to get back to school!

[The fencing helmet finally falls off the duffel bag, and the teenaged girl mutters a curse as she goes after it.]

I'm going to kill him...

[This is also a teenaged girl that hasn't found her acceptance letter yet, so feel free to troll her accordingly.  Or, you know, help her out.  Whatever you'd prefer.]

Time Compression. Twenty years ago, there was a witch who tried to collapse time into a single point. She wanted to gain complete control over it.

[ She explains slowly, aware that this pretty strange to take in. ]

[After everything Kate's witnessed, this doesn't even come close to weird.] Let me guess, didn't work?

[ The attitude gets a curious look and a small smile as Aerith shakes her head. ] No, she was stopped. But that side effect that I mentioned... the ripples of that magic still reach across other times and realities, bringing people into this timeline.

Is anyone close to figuring out why? Or better yet how to reverse it?

[ She shakes her head. ] There's theories, all right, but theories aren't solid answers. We don't have a way back. I've been here for more than a year.

What about back home? ...Do they even know we're gone?

I'm assuming she would have known Leon was here before :|a

I don't think so. There have been others here at Garden who I knew, but they never seemed to be gone back home. Like that time we're taken from is only an instant. It's strange... but at least it keeps friends and family from worrying.

[Nods.] Well that's a relief. I don't know what my dad would have done if he ever found out I was missing... Or my friends, for that matter.

Mm. I think they'll be all right. So, I know it's hard not to worry, but try to focus on taking care of yourself here.

It's kind of hard not to worry about my friends, but it's not like I can go back and calm them down...

Right. [ That's why she didn't want Kate worrying; it wouldn't do any good. ] --Oh, do you need help with your things? You do have a lot. If we figure out where you'll be staying we could get them put away.

They're pretty heavy, but I got them. I really don't want to inconvenience anyone, and this isn't the first time I've had to carry it all. The Time Compression seemed to have taken me at the most inconvenient moment.

Either that or it wanted me to perform a Cello concert here while fencing or something.

You really don't want any help? Don't think of it as an inconvenience. I want to help. You at least need a place to put them down.

[Reluctantly hands over her bookbag with her Hawkeye uniform hidden at the bottom of it. It's easily the lightest of all her stuff, but she doesn't like parting with her costume.]

[ Fortunately Aerith isn't about to go digging through other people's bags; she simply shoulders the bookbag before glancing across Garden, toward the dorms. ]

I think we should go to the dormitory. It's out best bet for finding somewhere to put everything. [ She starts walking that direction, but pauses and looks back at Kate. ] You... don't know which room you'd be in, do you.

Do they have nameplates? If I'm supposed to be here my name would be on the door.
