[Selphie stands with a tray at one side of the cafeteria. Attempting to balance her lunch, she reaches for a string hanging from the back of her uniform's skirt. She is doing a sort of "dog chasing it's tail" thing that may look endearing. Or may not. Straightening up, the cafeteria looms around her. A long time ago she had knew almost everybody at the school. You name them, she had smiled , bothered and befriended them. That's just what Selphie liked to do.

She had just arrived and still was a bit shell shocked. Her eyes would scan the crowd, hoping to catch a glimpse of a familiar face. Or a friendly face. Even with the time vertigo , Selphie was ecstatic to make new friends. Just look at all those new people. They all looked so nice! Selphie's grin got bigger at the thought. This is going to be pretty good! ]

[Quistis is walking into the cafeteria to grab a quick lunch when her eyes automatically draw to the back of Selphie's head. The unique, flippy hairstyle is unmistakeable, but it takes Quistis a couple of moments to let the fact sink in that Selphie is, in fact, standing there in the cafeteria. How long as it been since Quistis had seen one of her closest friends?]

Selphie!

[It's not often that Quistis raises her voice in a happy shout in such a public area, the call causing some of the other inhabitants of the cafeteria to stare at the Lieutenant Commander in confusion. Quistis ignores them, however, and quickly makes her way over to her friend.]

[Selphie hears a familiar voice. She almost doesn't turn around. It couldn't be. She whips around. A happy squeal escapes the small girl. There was Quistis! How...? She hadn't even aged a day. Selphie doesn't even give a second to consider the crowd or the lunch she had almost threw onto an empty table. With another happy squeal, she nearly tackles Quistis into a tight hug.]

Quistis! You're here! Oh, yay! You look so young! Did the Time Compression thingie mess with you too?

[The tackle hardly surprises Quistis, and the blond returns the embrace, her hand patting the younger girl's back affectionately.]

It did; I arrived to this time more than a year ago. You've just arrived, I take it?

[ Selphie nods, almost pouting.]

It's all weird! And crowded! Are all these people from different places? Some of them sure look funny.

Not all, but there's a large number of cadets who are here as a result of Time Compression. [Quistis can't help but scold lightly now.] And they don't look 'funny', they're just not what we're use to.

[Selphie frowns thoughtfully]

I bet they are all awfully lonely.

[ She knows she would feel alone if put in there shoes. ]

[Ohmi -- is that --?!]

[Some teenage girl is staring at you, Selphie.]

[ It takes a little while for Selphie to notice the staring. when she does, a wide smile breaks across her face. Possible friend? Selphie waves wildly at the staring girl.]

Helloooooo!

[Squall just came into the cafeteria to grab something before going back to work, but- there is only one person he knows that wears so much yellow you can't fail to notice her.]

Selphie?

[Selphie hears her name and knows exactly who it is. Turning quickly, she lets out a cry. Her excitement it hardly contained as she rushes up to Squall, the tray nearly spilling onto the both of them.]

Squall! Yaaaaay!

[ She puts her , now messy tray onto the edge of a crowded table. watch out Squall, Selphie is hugging as tight as she can manage.]

Hey Selphie!

[Waves. Like he knows her. It's okay, he doesn't expect her to know him.]

[ She grins, waving with equal enthusiasm.]

Booyaka!

Having fun as always?

[Nods] Oh yes! Everyone seems so nice.

Heh, really?

[Maria slaps down her spoon, stands, then snaps off a rigid salute.] Ma'am!

[Someone had very, very clearly practiced that gesture way too much.]

[Mikuru has bits of paper all over her table and is writing on one of them while referencing from others, but every so often she glances curiously at Selphie's hair. Her hair would never do that...]

[Always so kind. Quistis' smiles, and places a hand on the brunette's shoulder.]

When they arrive, yes. I'm sure it's frightening for them to arrive to a place completely foreign to them where the only explanation that can be provided is that they're here because of a rift in time and space. We should be as welcoming as possible.

Hey, Selph--

Holy Hyne, Selphie!

[ Selphie returns the salute, with a grin.] Hey there! You can call me Selphie!

[ Selphie twirls once in said flippy hair, still looking for a seat. ]

[Selphie's tray almost drops to the floor as she lets out a cry of surprise]

Zell! Oh yay! You're here too! [Pouts] I can't help when I showed up!

[ She blinks then breaks into a wide grin. ] We should throw them...a party!

Oh, uh... I know who you are, ma'am. I've... actually seen you before.

[Blink] Really? I don't remember you! [She puts her hands over her mouth. [] Did I forget you too?
