002 [Action-allllll over the place.]
[Scenario A: Morning]
[Anyone who decides to come into the cafeteria on this fine morning may just find Lightning at a table near the back, an empty plate near a notepad as she jots down notes. Anyone who gets close will see that it's a lesson plan for her classes, but there's a second smaller pad half hidden under it with words like "doubles?" and what look to be tactical plans for...something. It's all in abbreviations, making it ridiculously hard to make out, and it's unlikely that she'll talk about that one.]
[Scenario B: WTR 301 Class; 1400 to 1500 hours]
[Good afternoon, class. Feel free to walk in on your pink-haired teacher doing some last minute gun checks on that row of handguns you can see on a low counter, while a few meters behind there's another counter with cans of varying height and width. Once everyone's in the class and seemingly ready for this, Lightning will gesture over to the cans.]
You'll be shooting these today. The fewer shots you use to take them all down, the better.
[No nonsense tone is get; Instructor Farron isn't playing games, but...then again...when does she play games?]
[Scenario C: after class]
[With classes over and notes attended to until late in the night, anyone who finds their way to the Quad will find Lightning sitting on a bench, performing routine maintenance on one of these, seemingly without a care to the world around her. Feel free to approach and ask her just what kind of weapon that is, or to just stare. Though that second option is likely to get you an odd look, she won't bite.
No promises on the lack of linefacing, though. She does that a lot.]
[ooc: interact where you please~ just stick which scenario in the subject line and you're good to go!]

A;

Can I help you with something?
no subject
Namach, chica, just curious.
no subject
That curiosity might get you into trouble if you're not careful.

A!
Morning, Light!
no subject
Morning. You're up early.
[Well. Earlier than normal for the girl Lightning remembers needing Fang and Hope to get her up in the morning back on Pulse.]
no subject
I couldn't really sleep... So I thought I'd come get something to eat, instead!
[ She's having a hard time with this sleeping in bed alone thing. ]
no subject
Have you tried exercising before bed? Wearing yourself out might help you sleep.
[Either that or figuring out what the real problem is and solving that issue. Because Fang is at least easy to move if need be.]

A... again!
[Snows kicks a chair out, then drops a tray down as he flops down. Avoiding her notes, of course.]
Whatcha workin' on?
[The question is a little quieter than his greeting. Obviously she's working on lesson plans, even HE can see that, but as for the other, she can read a hint that he'll be discreet about it.]
no subject
Contingency plans. We can't afford to not be careful.
[She's quiet as ever, and Snow may have to strain a bit to hear her, but at least she's telling him. No secrets with family, or something like that.]
no subject
Just let me know what you come up with.
[And then in a more normal tone of voice...]
You settling in all right? Classes going well?
no subject
But now it's time for "small talk", and she returns to her lesson plans.]
Well as I'd expected. Had a few show offs deciding they already knew how to shoot a gun or actually use a sword, but they learned quick enough.
[Linefacing and glares weren't actually needed, either. She's just glad she used blanks at first.]

[C]
He watches Lightning from afar for a few minutes before making his slow, cautious way up to her.]
I've not seen a blade like that before.
no subject
It's called a gunblade. This is a model from my home.
no subject
A gunblade. I've never heard of such a thing.
[They were, of course, described in the informational pamphlets from Garden--or at least this world's version of the weapon was--but he didn't, couldn't read those.]
It is...oddly articulated.
no subject
Compared to the ones they have here, yeah. They're made differently and behave differently.
[Firing actual rounds, for one. Not just spells or air pressure.]

A!
His eyes do stray to her notepads briefly, but his gaze has drifted away by the time he greets her.]
Good morning, Sergeant. Have you settled back in?
no subject
Mostly. I'm still readjusting to some things.
no subject
[Aside from the matter of doubles, of course.]
Your friends have surely been trying to help you adjust.

Good morning, Instructor. I'm sorry to interrupt, but may I sit?
no subject
Go right ahead.
[She'll just be moving her things a bit so Elika can sit and not risk her food falling off the table. Also, it kind of serves to hide that second notepad; no point in that getting out to just anyone.]
no subject
Ah, Instructor...maybe it was just dark the last time we met, but hadn't you only recently cut your hair?
[ Confused Elika is so confused. ]

A; well over a week late and... for what'll probably be hilariously short aside from my tl;dr ;;
She does have to eat some time though, and when her 'stash' runs out... well. Even when she catches sight of the other woman and feels a very strong desire to just immediately leave though, she sticks with it anyway out of stubbornness, deliberately turning her eyes away as she makes her way to the food line.
Yeah, long story made very short: Claire really hates her. Just for existing, basically. She doesn't want to deal with it-- not just because Lightning is apparently a Pulse l'Cie (or was, though Claire hasn't been corrected over that yet) and is obviously on good terms with the others, but specifically because she's still on good terms with Serah.
Jealous? Maaaybe. Not that she'd admit it. This whole thing, coupled with being forced to deal with the other l'Cie closer than she'd actually counted on (Serah and Vanille in her class!), has her stirring up roughly a billion emotions she just really doesn't want to deal with. Seeing Lightning at all doesn't help. ]
no worries, no worries~ all tags are loved, no matter when they come. ♥
It's one thing to know the other woman is here. It's one thing for Vanille to have thought they were the same woman for a while. It's one thing for Lightning to be making sure her family will be safe no matter what. It's another thing for Lightning to see her double, this other woman from the Sanctum, and it's a whole other can of worms to actually deal with it. It's something Lightning doesn't know how to deal with yet, so she'll just stand still for a moment, trying to recover her balance, as it were.
Though, really, all she's doing is just standing there staring. If, by some miracle, Claire hasn't felt Lightning's eyes on her yet, it probably won't be long until she does.]
no subject
She suddenly glances over, shooting the other woman an odd look- brows drawn and seeming a lot like she's trying not to bare her teeth, but then smooths it out, lifting her chin in an undeniably defiant gesture.
Yeah. Weeks later, and still no matter how much she attempts to discount it, she's a lot more distressed over this, and Raines, and the other Pulse l'Cie, than she prefers to be over anything. Still not doing quite enough of this "sleeping" thing, still spending too much time destroying the surrounding population of monsters, being too short with people, trying not to, without warning, snap out of her neutral demeanor right in the middle of class or tutoring or whatever else she happens to be doing at the time.
Mental state = not so good... but like hell is she going to just up and quit at this point. She's way, way too strong-willed for that.
... Continuing to stare at her, however, may not be the best course of action. ]
