It was his way of alerting the others of his presence quietly. His hot butter raisin scones were popular back in Wayne Manor and they did have a distinctive taste and smell. Alfred left the door between the cafeteria and the kitchen open although not conspiculously so. Just a tiny bit to encourage company.

He knew he'd be expecting them shortly. If you were to walk in you would see a middle age man taking some buns out of the oven. Strangely he wears white gloves, even under his oven mitts, and he's much more formal looking than an ordinary cook would be.

Without even turning around he tells you, "Please, do come in."

"Yes, he also has some bruises that he says he got from Master Tim. Do you know what they were fighting about?" He asks.

They both had injuries. I checked them both when I talked to them. Unfortunately, I don't know the exact conversation. I'm assuming it's the usual though. I doubt the two will want to talk to each other anytime soon.

"And Master Jason, is he well?" Not that he doesn't care about Dick's wellfare but Jason always seemed to the one who needed the most worry.

Snarky, stubborn, and childish as always. [He says this in the most sincere and affectionate way though.] We've been here awhile. We're both instructors here.

"I've just arrived this morning. I don't suppose there's a way to contact Gotham to let Master Bruce know we're all here?" No, that would be too easy but he still has to ask.

I didn't know anyone knew we might be missing. Tim and Damian had both seen me before they ended up here. The time paradoxes caused by this is pretty confusing. Which makes me have to ask. What was the last thing we were doing back at home?

"Master Bruce had just returned home. We were in the midst of deciding on matters of the cowl when you were first gone. Then Master Damian, then Master Tim. At first we thought it might be a plot of the Red Hood...but there was no trace of him either. It was most stressful on the both of us. Before I left Master Wayne was going to check with the League of Shadows thinking this a plot from the demon's head."

How long had I been gone then? Because, I doubt you'd be this calm if it was a few days...as oppose to the fact I've been here for well over a year already. Jason too. I believe Tim and Damian haven't been here as terribly long, so I'm not sure.

Things are kind of wonky around here.

"Nearly six months, sir. Masters Timothy and Damian disappeared a couple of days after you. If I may ask, wonky in what way?"

That's weird. I think one of them told me they've only been here about a month. As for myself, it's been well over a year. Time seems to be pretty screwy.

"More of a time distorter than a time compression then. Especially with the 'alternates' that Master Tim told me about."

Parallels. Apparently we got a lot of those going on. As for alterna-wait alternates?
