[Action 01] Quad

[This is Rikku. Rikku's about as confused as you can get. She wanted to go to the Thunder Plains, not some crazy world with a military academy. She's a pickpocket/techie, not a merc!

...But there's lots of cool machina here, so if nothing else, maybe she can study this stuff, get some plans drawn up, and take them with her when she goes home.

For now, though, she's just sort of sitting in the quad, under a tree, watching all the people go by and trying not to look terrified. How well that's working depends on how observant you are.

Also? She's still in her bikini.]

[For example, that big, heavy ball that just slammed into the wall, then bounced off? That's definitely a blitzball.]

[It arcs up into the air, and then into the hands of one bronze man-god. Jecht catches it, neatly flips at the top of his leap, then lands lightly on the path through the Quad.]

Rikku looks up when she see the blitzball. And then that guy. Oh, there is no way...she scrambles to her feet and runs over]

[Jecht's got no real idea just what they started calling him during the Calm. He's used to 'crazy guy who thinks he's from Zanarkand' or 'The Great Jecht'! Still, he kinda likes the sound of that, so he's got a grin on his face as he turns.]

[He crosses his arms, making an effort to look stern, but... it's fairly obvious he's pleased, the way he's not quite hiding that smile.]

[There is now a rather tall, serious looking fellow standing next to Rikku. Seems like he noticed the attempt to not look terrified and walked over at some point...]

Ed'c veha. [Rikku sits back up, dusting herself off] I...I kinda just got here, that's all. [She smiles sheepishly] Sorry for spazzing.

[There's a brief moment where Cid looks puzzled at this "Ed'c veha" comment, but he continues on with only the slightest of pauses.]

A new arrival then. You are an off-worlder, I assume? [He offers her a small smile.] Do you require some assistance in settling in?

[Well, that's certainly an attention-getter.

No, Sokka does have a sense of decency despite being a red-blooded male... not to mention that he isn't sure if he's ever seen that much skin revealed in a place that wasn't the beach. And while Balamb is a coastal town, this isn't exactly a place where one can just happily dive into the water. For one thing, that requires a bit of a walk.

He's more really, really confused that someone would just sit in public like that, but then he notices what appears to be a scared look on the girl's face. So that prompts him to try and help. Even despite the scandalous state of dress... she is kind of cute.

Hey! [Sokka offers up a friendly wave as he strolls over.] Are you all right?

[There might be some rustling and leaves fluttering down on Rikku, and then- a redhead totally falls out of the tree to land next to Rikku.]

[Wait there's someone else here, Ariel pushes her hair out of her eyes and smiles.]

[Rikku looks up and smiles.] Hi. [She glances around] For the most part...sorta? Maybe? Not really? I dunno.

You bet! The letter the guy in charge gave me totally didn't explain anything. All I got out of it was I'm in some kinda school? And I'm not on Spira anymore.

[Rikku can't remember the last time she was in anything resembling a school, if she was ever in one.]

A phenomenon called "time compression" has brought you here, and unfortunately, scientists have yet to figure out how to reverse the effects.

Thankfully, those here at the Garden have graciously allowed us to stay here until matters are resolved. [Cid pauses and looks around the quad before turning his attention back on Rikku.] As for attending classes, I assume that they merely thought it best to give off-worlders something constructive to do.

Certainly not. It would be ludicrous to expect all arrivals to have a military background.

[Had been looking for a quiet spot to read undisturbed, but instead comes across what looks like a frightened streetwalker huddling under a tree. Though he did have his doubts this person was actually a streetwalker, he couldn't help but wonder what made her choose to wear a bikini. His first instinct said she wore it as a cry for attention, but her body language said otherwise. Then she wore the clothes for someone else. And if she wore the clothes for someone else and looked the way she did currently, that could only mean...]
