There is an event that is not so much as a national holiday where I'm from, but rather a celebration mostly seen in schools that might do us well here. It's referred to as a "Culture Day" where we share different things from our individual cultures.

[He also sent Squall an intensely detailed PM about Ramadan, specifying exactly how the cafeteria could help them out (mainly by selling dates and fruit juice) and how faculty and instructors could help Muslims like Damian out (ie, going easy on him and being okay if he misses an assignment).

Thanksgiving: It was originally a feast in celebration of a good harvest, but these days it's a day to get together with your family, have a good meal, and be thankful for your blessings. It's celebrated on the last Thursday of November, so that's November 24th this year.

[It's not very Commander-like to admit he was hiding in his room all day and missed every meal. And more to the point he doesn't really know Sharpay... He's definitely not calling her Shar. He puts a hand on his hip, quiet.]

[After curfew, but whatever technically that never stopped him as a cadet either.]

[He's not really sure why she's walking around after curfew either. Unless it's for the same reason. ...Which would be weird.]

Just a break, stretching my legs. I didn't feel like dealing with the monsters. [That last part's rather flippant, but as she lets her gaze wander around, she becomes a bit more thoughtful.] Never really knew how peaceful Garden is this time of night. [It's nice.]

Rinoa is...one of my best friends here. [That hesitation isn't over naming Rinoa as one of her best friends; it's over having someone to call her best friend at all, proper friendships instead of her weak relationships with her 'friends' back home.]
