01 | action, hours after arrival

[Standing in the middle of the Quad, in red-and-white t-shirt and tight jeans with flip-flops is Garden's latest arrival, an ex-theEND pilot with long, pink hair pinned up in a ponytail and barrettes, and a map of Garden in her hands. She's looking at it intently, smiling contently, and looking a little more than eager.

This is Garden's new cook for the cafeteria. Miss Anemone. Ex-theEND pilot. Ex-Corolian experiment. Ex-enemy of Gekkostate. Ex-enemy of the Corolians. And while she'd been a little loud and annoyed a couple hours ago in Cid's office, she's quite giddy and excited now. She will now be able to cook all the delicious and tasty sweets that she so adores. With her own two hands. Maybe when Dominic comes here, or she eventually goes back home, then she can show him her outstanding new cooking skills! It'd really impress him!

Yes! Anemone is very confident that this is quite possibly the best idea that she's had, aside from dating Dominic and taking in Gulliver. She already has a list of ingredients she'll need for her very first self-cooked meal!]

...now where can I get some strawberry jam?

[The question wasn't directed at Cissie, but she can't help waving at Anemone as she makes her way over to the newcomer.] Hey! You look like you could use some help.

[Looks up, bouncing on the balls of her feet, grinning.]

Sure could! Do you know if there's a garden or something around here?

Actually, yeah. [points in the direction of the Home Ec garden, which isn't too far off] Home Ec requires you to grow plants, so they've got a fully-functioning garden over there.

Fully functioning? Really? [Well this is going to be a whole lot easier than she initially thought!] Could you maybe show me the way? I just got here a couple hours ago.

Yeah, sure! [Almost immediately starts heading off! Thankfully, she does wait for Anemone to catch up.]

Are you a new Cadet here? I don't think I've seen you around before.

[Anemone keeps good pace. She's build for endurance.]

No, I'm the cook! I just got the job!

Really? [She immediately glances over her shoulder and grins] That's awesome! I bet the food'll get a lot better now.

Think so? [Okay. She already likes this girl!] I've never really cooked food on my own. I've kind of always had someone else make me food.

No time like the present to learn, right? [... those words are cause for concern, but Cissie won't show it just yet.] Also, it's cafeteria food. It's neigh-impossible to mess up.

I sure hope so. I think someone told me that there are cookbooks in the library?

I'm sure there are. They have everything there, last I checked. [Well, here they are! Cissie flops down on the grass and idly picks some blades out.]

Let me know if you need anything else, alright?

I should be able to get that.

Got it! Thanks, uh...hey I didn't catch your name!

[Whips head to so fast it could spin.]

You can get me jam?!

Oh, right! I'm Cissie. [laughs, leaning forward] What's yours?

[A little taken aback, but nods.] I can, yes. Hopefully you won't need too much, eh?

They might have some in the cafeteria kitchen? [She's surprised by the question, but doesn't think much of it in the long run.]

Isn't that where they keep all the food here? I don't see why you couldn't use some of it. [Oh hey, her hair is even more pink than hers. That's not something she sees every day.]

I like your hair.

Anemone! [puts out a hand] Nice to meet you, Cissie!

Ah... [puts a finger to her chin, thoughtful.] How much is "too much"?

I checked there, but I'm missing from items.

[Turns head. Sees hair. Blinks.] Nice hair.

Good to meet you too! [shakes it quickly and firmly] Soooo... What do you need jam for? Something sweet?

More than a jar or three is acceptable. More than a D or giant, then it might be a problem.

To eat, of course!

So I can't have a D or giant?

You can't have more than what they'd have.

...they don't have enough?

[WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO?]

Wait here. [Taps her nose and heads off, only to return fifteen minutes later with two and a half jars. One Strawberry, one grape, one sort of apple-like.]

If you want toast to go with that, you'll have to see what the cafeteria has.

H-hey! [claps hands over nose. darnit her personal space. but she waits obediently because she wants to know what he's doing and just about as she's ready to track him down and kick his butt for making her wait for no reason, she sees him coming up...with jam.]

OH MY GOSH!

[She dashes over.]

They're beautiful!

[Laughs softly and shakes his head as he hands them over.] You are really easy to please Miss.

[Anemone plops down on the floor with arms full of jams and sets them out. She takes up the strawberry jam and untwists the lid with amazing strength that she almost breaks the holds, then tosses it over shoulder and plunges a hand into the jar.]

It looks like what Dominic would get me!

[She takes her sticky jam-covered hand out of the jar and then inserts it into her mouth.]

MMmmm!

[It's like a cute pink-haired girl version of Winnie the Pooh. Amazing.]

Dominic?

[Anemone nods, pulling her hand out of her mouth, and swallowing the food in her mouth.]

Mhmm! He's my boyfriend!

Ah sorry, haven't met him. Are you new here?

Yea, I am! I'm Anemone, the cook! [She digs her hand back into the jar and pulls out more globs of jam.]

OH! [It hadn't occurred to her that said jam wasn't for dinner tonight.] That works!

Well then, now I feel silly getting you some jam. Although, it'll be a nice change to have someone who can cook around here, eh.

It'll be even better once I learn how to cook!

[inserts jam into mouth.]

You don't know how yet?

[All that optimism gone.]

Oh. Well let's see, maybe the Home Ec kitchen?

[Serah laughs a little bit, not surprised so much as pleased.] Do you get asked if it's natural all the time too?

[And to think, this stranger's hair is even brighter and more pink than her own! It's actually really neat.]

Sometimes! But in the past, not really.
