011 // visiting classes [open, backdated to beginning of the week]
[These kinds of things had to be done.
With the new quarter going underway, Headmaster Cid had asked of Quistis to go into some of the classes and assess them. Not so much on the material being taught, but the way instructors interact with the cadets, whether they are accommodating the offworlders and native cadets alike. Of course the instructors and cadets haven't been given a warning prior, which makes everything all the more candid.
With a clipboard in her hand, Quistis quietly slips into the classroom to watch from the back.]
[OOC: So yeah… basically for anyone who has a cadet? Perfect time to try and get instructors into trouble if they hate them. Or, you know, try and show off how perfectly wonderful an instructor is. Anyone who's interested in having Quistis explore their class just tag in noting which class it is in the subject. Classes with NPC instructors are welcomed, too! Also, I doubt she'll be doing this all in one day so it'll be an ongoing thing throughout the week. Note which day you'd like her to visit a class!]

Nonetheless she lets the class continue on without interference, silently watching from the sidelines and making the occasional note or two in her notepad.]

... Not that she's intimidated at all. If anything, being under scrutiny has the odd effect of making things easier for her...
As soon as there's the chance, she makes her way over while the cadets are busy practicing, her demeanor and tone deliberately neutral- ]
Is there anything I can help you with, Lieutenant Commander?

Please, call me Quistis. I was just making my way through the classes to see how everything is going. [A corner of her lips perk up into a small smile.] It's clear that you have everything perfectly under control, though.
no subject
Thank you. [ She inclines her head slightly, though at the same time keeping her eyes off towards the students. Wouldn't this just be the perfect time for someone to brain themselves somehow? ] I think there's still some things to iron out... but I guess that's true of just about anything.

Well, it's only the third week of classes; there's plenty of time to adjust accordingly.

[ Not that she really expects specifics if there has... but it's worth asking if there's a chance of soothing just a bit of morbid curiosity. ]

Unfortunately, I don't think that most of the cadets here are part fish.
[ ... Wait, that's Jecht isn't it? Figures. ]
no subject
Exactly what I thought. The instructor, however... judging by how long he claims he can hold his breath, I wonder.

I take it he chose to skip the elective on human anatomy. [ A short pause, as she gauges just how bold she feels like daring to be. ] To be frank... I don't think someone belongs in front of a class if he doesn't even know the physical limits of those he's supposed to be teaching.
[ Extremely so as it turns out, though as always, her tone remains as cool as ever. ]
no subject
True... I do worry for the cadets. Perhaps the physiology of his world is different, but humans here at the very least can rarely hold their breaths for longer than two minutes. I did talk to him after class and attempted to change his expectations into a more realistic one, but we'll see what happens. I'll be looking after the class carefully and if it need be, I'll approach the Headmaster about it.

[ After all, she's pretty sure she isn't able to get any of the other l'Cie to suddenly decide to get in that class in time for an accident. Petty thoughts. She takes a deep breath. ]
In any case, I see no reason why you won't be able to get a handle on it. Hopefully it works out.

And how are things going in your other class, Instructor Farron?
no subject
NPCsnatives right now. However, she does seem to consider a moment longer. ] I've... acquired a few students who requested tutoring outside of the classes as well, so there is that, too.no subject

Truth is, for all her confidence and excessive seriousness, Claire is actually about as far from 'selfish' as you can get. Of course, she also doesn't really have any friends, so it's not like she has anything better to do with that extra time... ]
... That's right. The ones here are quite a bit different than what I was used to at first, but I can at least use them well enough now to help those trying to learn.
[ AKA, she probably doesn't have much on those who have been using one for years, but she still pretty much mastered it in just a few months. She's... a touch insane like that. ]

The gunblade seems to be growing more and more popular as the weapon of choice among cadets. When I was a cadet, we only had two specialists in the school. I guess a lot has changed since then...
[She supposes that statement does make her sound old, but then again it has technically been more than twenty years since she'd been a cadet...]
no subject
So I've heard. [ A short, thoughtful pause. ] It was the same where I'm from as well - more people being trained to use gunblades, where once they'd been considered old-fashioned or too difficult.
