WEEK II, HEC 101, 1400H + AFTER CLASS

[Home economics is easily M'gann's favorite class. What's not to love about it? They had made cookies on Monday which, after the initial burning incident back on Earth, she has now mastered. But cupcakes are another story altogether...

She's standing at her station now, brows furrowed in concentration as she reads over the instructions. This can't be that hard, can it?]

[Now that she had a successful batch of cupcakes, she didn't really know what to do with them. Back in the Cave, she usually shared whatever she had baked or cooked that day with the rest of the team. But considering how only Connor was here with her now, even between the two of them it wasn't likely they could finish off two dozen cupcakes. It probably wasn't all that healthy, either. But, she had figured out a way to get rid of cupcakes and maybe make some new friends!

She's sitting in the quad now, a big plastic container of cupcakes in her lap with a little sign perched on top that reads: "FREE CUPCAKES!"

[Impulse is out for a run around the school after class. It gets really stuffy and unbearable in those classrooms, so the second it's over, Bart changes into his costume and does a few hundred laps around Garden. On his 428th lap, he spots a girl with a sign that says "free cupcakes" and skids to a stop a few feet away from her so as not to scare her. Because seriously, what's better than free cupcakes? Nothing.]

[M'gann had been waiting patiently on her seat in the quad when she sees a figure zooming fast. Which is impossible-- not so much because it's unlikely that a person can move so fast, but moreso because she has never seen anyone move as fast as Wally before. Her eyes are wide when the blur finally stops a few feet away from her and she's finally able to take in his appearance. Is that... a superhero costume?

Surprise and excitement bubbles up in M'gann, and she tries not to come off as too eager or pleased when he addresses her.]

Oh, yes! Please, help yourself! [She takes off the lid of the container, holding it out for him.]

[M'gann nods, smiling brightly.]

Yes, I made it today in Home Economics!

[There's a brief pause then-- M'gann is hesitant to ask, but she can't help but be curious.]

Uhm, if you don't mind me asking... are you a superhero?

DURING CLASS

[Superboy had never had the chance to eat her cookies back in the Cave (FOR SHAME), Wally had always beat him to it. Damn Speedster. But as he watches her read with such concentration, his eyes taking in the way her brow creases, Superboy crosses his arms over his chest and takes a step closer to peer over her at the book -- not that he understands any of it... but he wants to see why she's having so much trouble when she seems to be pretty good at this baking thing.]

What's the problem?

[M'gann looks up when Connor asks his question, smiling a bit as she does so. She might also be blushing ever so faintly-- she can't help it, he looks really good in that uniform!

But she quickly looks back down to the book, sweeping her eyes over the text one last time.]

I just want to make sure I have everything right-- I don't want to get this wrong. It's all going to be graded, after all?

[Conner might be oblivious to most things but that blush-- he's beginning to notice it happening a lot with her whenever she looks at him, he doesn't understand why. It happened a few times back in their world, in the Cave, on missions... but... hrm.]

Your cookies were all right; why would this be any different?

[By all right he means Wally seemed to really enjoy them.]

[She's sorting through all her ingredients now.]

Well they require different ingredients and the baking time is a little different. Also, you have to be extra careful when you put them in the oven-- they can't be overdone, but they can't be unfinished, either!

[... There was a smell in the air. A smell that had Instructer Westcliffes nostrils flared, trying to scoop up as much of that sweet sweet scent as he could. He walked, no, bounced towards the source of this delicious smell!]

Cupcakes! Oh~ How insanely perfect that timing is! I'm starving.

[He grins at the lowly student. He would be nice though! There were cupcakes at stake here.]

May I have one? [He asks with a smile, his British accent just that little bit more British, slipping back into the habit he picked up living in America.]

[Oh, Instructor Westcliffe! She's in his dance class, and thus smiles brightly when he approaches.]

Of course, Instructor! [She holds open the container for him to pick a cupcake out of.]

[Of course, the greedy Brit must take the biggest one. He bites through it immediately and smiles as he's nodding his approval. He swallows the first bite.]

If you don't get an A+, I'm going to have words with your instructor.

[He smiles and takes another bite.]

Make sure you don't eat to many though. Dancing after cupcakes becomes an interestingly difficult task if one has consumed to many.

Oh, don't worry, Instructor! I've only had a couple to taste after I baked them. I made too many, though, which is why I'm giving them away.

[Something smells good. Not his mother's favorite type good, but good nevertheless. Kinda made him miss her, but that was done and over with.

Percy reaches over, anxious to try one and offers a smile.] Free, right? They do look delicious.

[Maybe it's because of all the time he's spent with Vashyron, but Zephyr makes a beeline toward the sign that says "free" on it. Sure, it's not cold, hard cash, but he's not exactly one to turn down free stuff either.

It's not until he actually gets closer that he bothers to read the second word on the sign: cupcakes. He comes to a stop in front of the girl offering them.]

Something wrong with them? That why they're free?

[... Oh. She hadn't expected that question. M'gann peers down into her box of cupcakes, inspecting them; they look quite delicious, carefully frosted and decorated and all! Did they look bad?]

Oh, no; I just made too many during class and I can't eat them all. I tried some after I baked them, and they're really good! Would you like one?

[Zephyr looks at the cupcakes. They really don't look that bad; he's just... not really used to the idea of something being offered for free. Usually free things require a bit of effort to get, or you know, a certain level of unconsciousness on the giver's part.]

[Really, Mitsuru was just passing through for some fresh air. She certainly isn't looking for trouble contact with anyone-

But. It's difficult to ignore a container full of pastries. Especially when they smell so very, very, enticing. It's even harder for Mitsuru to overlook sweets when she's had a full day of classes, and has a small, persistent voice saying that she has surely earned a reward.

Added to the fact that those little baked goods look so very novel, and Mitsuru finds herself quickly drawn towards them. And with those pastries taking up most of her attention, it takes her an embarrassingly long moment to realize the person sitting next to them looks familiar.]

"Hm?

Miss Moraz?"

[It's not intentional that she's mangling the name, truly. Martian language is just odd to pronounce, and those cupcakes are not helping her concentration in the slightest.]

[M'gann looks up despite the slight name butchering, and brightens when she spots the familiar redhead standing over her.]

Mitsuru! Hi! [She doesn't miss a beat as she holds out the container of cupcakes towards the other female.] Would you like a cupcake?

[So it IS the same girl; the voice an mannerisms are unmistakable. She'd suspected as much, back in Garden Code, but it's good to get actual confirmation.

For her part, Mitsuru gives a polite nod...But also keeps her eyes fastened on the treats.]

"These are cupcakes?"

[They're...A bit of a far cry from the black-tie level catering or gourmet desserts she's used to. But they still look quite intriguing.

And delicious. That too.]

"I would like to try one, if you don't mind."

[After class, Marco sees the sign and in typical pirate fashion, has to grab one. Pirates are always hungry.]
