Jumping the gun... blade...okay that was awful [Action, dorms]
[Dorm room B117 -- you just know this is going to be trouble, right?]
[It's mid-evening when a pair of explosions followed by a surprised yelp sound from behind the half-open door, followed by a heavy thud of something falling over and hitting the floor hard.]
Uh-oh.

Uh-oh.

She knocks on the door lightly, before calling out:]
Hello? Are you okay?
no subject
Sorry if I scared you. The recoil was, um, not what I was expecting!
[A nervous but sincere laugh.]
no subject
Are you hurt anywhere?
no subject
Oh no, I'm fine! I just really startled myself. The blades went in a completely different direction than I expected!
[She lifts one gunblade to hold it straight out as if she was actually aiming a pistol. Very definitely pointed away from Katara of course! It looks like it ought to be a feat even if it's not a Revolver-sized behemoth, but the weight is actually in the grip. And Maria has forearms that might make Popeye blink.]
See, a normal gun will go up -- [She jerks the tip of the blade upwards] No matter how you're holding or pointing it. But these don't!
[So much for startled, she really seems downright thrilled by this discovery!]

Which direction does it go, then?

Don't mind her not knocking either.] Maria?! You okay?
[she doesn't look like the part of a "savior" either - actually, judging from how thin and gaunt she looks (in addition to wearing raggedy sweats), it's debatable that she's even left the dorms as of late.]
no subject
[Maria looks entirely uninjured, just startled. Her gunblades are in her hands, and a dresser lies sideways on the ground, spilling out its contents. After a moment the girl registers the question.]
Oh! Ha, I'm fine, I made a dumb mistake is all!

[A bit sheepish as she sets the blades down on the bed.]
Oh no, it's a good thing I didn't, I'm still new to these. I'd have gotten chewed up badly if I'd been in an actual fight! I just didn't know that gunblade recoil doesn't work like gun recoil!
no subject
... But hey, I've got a crossbow. If you headed into the Center with a friend who could back you up, practice wouldn't be bad.

Cadet Cyphert.
[ Her voice is definitely flat, though it's safe to say the general meaning is somewhere along the lines of what in the world are you doing? ]
no subject
Ma'am!
[And then she nearly trips over the dresser lying on its side, spilling its context everywhere.]
I, uh... I screwed up, ma'am. I apologize for the disturbance!
[Still every bit the basic training recruit, everything a bit loud and forced.]
no subject
What are you-- watch it. [ Immediately Claire's stepped into the room and over to the younger girl with unusual speed, reaching out to steady the more precariously-held weapon, possibly even pulling it away from her entirely if she'll allow it. ] Be careful... before you cut a leg off.
no subject
S-sorry, ma'am, I -- I didn't think I would need the holster...
[She looks guiltily at the odd contraption that holds her gunblades, where it lies on the floor. It had been on top of the dresser after all.]
no subject
... Consider this your first lesson, then. [ Not exactly harsh any more, but certainly still very firm. Effortlessly, she turns the weapon in her hand, so that the edge faces away from both of them, handle end angled toward its owner. ] Under no circumstances do you hold your weapon in anything but a proper grip. Especially a gunblade. Got it?

[The gunblade girl, half-visible through the half-open door, offered a sheepish smile.]
Knocked over a dresser.
no subject
So it seems.
Doing what, I wonder...
But at any rate, do be more careful, girl. Nearly gave me a bloody heart attack from the sudden commotion.
no subject
[Yes, she is about an inch from dragging the other girl into her room, sitting her down, and explaining in excruciating detail. Maria is an enthusiastic gunblade fangirl.]

I attacked it. By accident.

Good thing for explosions.
Granted, Leon doesn't jump out of his skin. Just rockets himself down the hall, like a good, concerned teacher should
not that it has anything to do with instinct at all, rightto make sure people are alright.Right at the door:] Hey-- what happened?
no subject
I didn't know gunblades didn't always go up from recoil!
