[Ron sits in the courtyard alone, arms folded over his chest with his back against a tree. Since he's not facing the entrance, Ron's partially hidden, but that bright orange hair is something no one can miss really if they walk by.

The redhead is obviously muttering to himself, though, and yes, yes he is actually sulking. A bit. But Ron has a good reason to sulk--]

Right bloody brilliant way to spend a birthday if you ask me...

[Even in this strange place, Hermione has kept track of the date-- it's nice to be able to do so, especially with all the time that had passed while they had been hunting for the Horcruxes where days easily turned into weeks, then to months. During lunch after the initial rush, she had timidly approached one of the cafeteria ladies to ask for a special little cake to be made, and was quite surprised to find how complying they had been with the request.

With the cake in a box neatly tied with a ribbon, Hermione set out to look for the redhead, walking around the first floor before finally finding him in the courtyard. Silently she approached him, coming to an abrupt stop in front of him before holding the box out in offering.]

[Hermione surprises him so much that he blinks up at her, shoulders slumping. Wait? Cake?] Cake? What's this, then?

[Ron lets his arms unfold and he straightens up against the tree trunk, bringing in his legs from their stretched out position, crossing them. He peers up at her both cautiously and curiously, blue eyes focused on the box held out in her hands.]

Where'd this come from? Or better yet - who'd you knick this off?

I asked the cafeteria ladies to prepare it.

[She moves to box closer to him.]

Are you going to take it or not? It is your birthday, after all.

[Ron looks up at her and reaches for the box, looking back down at it as his fingers grasp the edges. The tips of his ears are burning - it's a bit awkward accepting something from her without Harry or their other mates from Gryffindor hovering around, but Ron's grateful all the same and secretly touched that she would do something for him in this world let alone remember.

This is just new for him, since they're in this strange world with just each other as company and reminder of their own world...]

[He sends her a quick glance and nod and then sets the box down in front of him, looping a finger in the ribbon to carefully tug it free.]

Then why not do something about it? [Yes, Grell just came out of nowhere, looking at the other with a raised eyebrow.]

Ah, sorry mate. [Because talking to people muttering to themselves is a bad habit of his.] Maybe some cake?

[Ron lifts his head and looks up at the redhead. He says nothing at first and then makes a face.]

Yeah? Like what?

[Not answering right away, Ron stares at him. He's seen a lot of weird looking blokes but this gentleman right here...]

Doubt they have anything remotely similar to a cauldron cake here, mate.

[Stares at. And if you think the pineapple headed pirate looks funny, you have no idea how much the freckles and general lost attitude is reminding him of his best friend.]
