[Renton's passed the Front Gate and walked into the Lobby, letter and catalog still in his hand. He looks down and around, scratching his head. Everything is so dream like. The colors, the architecture, even the weather, in a way. Needless to say he's still confused and completely out of place.
A frown and scrunched up nose follow another attempt to make sense of things -- they have been crazy ever since Eureka crashed into his grandfather's shop, no doubt, but this...
He drops his head, exhales, then throws his hands out dramatically:]
This is insane!!
(ooc: late intro is late! Between Christmas preparations and celebrating, I thought it'd be better to postpone so I can dedicate my full attention to threads. SORRY. Bother Renton at will.)

Where is the letter?
[She assumed he had a letter, because she got a letter... and from what she could remember it kind of explained things.]

[and then it clicks] Oh--here. [he takes it out from under catalog.] What about it?

[She turned quickly away from him to look around and figure out where they were. It wasn't that long ago that she showed up, but she walked around in circles so many times that she had learned several identifying marks.]
Go that way. There is a metal room that will take you to the Headmaster.[She pointed down the path that lead to the elevator.] Maybe he can explain things better to you so that you understand.

Dammit. Headmasters are boring.]
I don't want explanations, I just want to get back.

We all want to go back where we belong... but a way to send us back home has yet to be discovered. It would be for the best if you learned to accept this and chose to use your time more wisely. Standing around talking to no one will not be useful to anyone.

But she seems completely serious.]
I don't know. This! Everything!

Why are you making things complicated?
[Because obviously it's his fault that she doesn't understand him.]

Just when I managed to leave...

I don't want to be here either...
[She was lost only a little longer within her own pessimistic thoughts before she suddenly shook her head and looked at Renton.]
You must not think about the things you can not change. [She pointed at him, her voice getting stronger as she preached to him. Kind of her own way of reinforcing her own resolve as well.] Focus on what you can do. We had no choice about being brought here... but we can choose what to do while we're here.
[She paused, her eyes shifting away shyly and uncertain before she looked back to him for his support in her idea.] ... don't you think so?

I didn't mean to upset you. But... [he wants to believe her, but he says it mostly to redeem himself.] I guess you're right.

[She got a couple steps past him before she stopped and turned to look back at him.] And you did not upset me.
[If she could, Mercedes tried to turn away and leave swiftly so that she could have the last word.]
