[There seems to be a festive atmosphere all throughout Garden. Why? Because it's the Homecoming Carnival! The Garden Festival Committee and their unaffiliated helpers have been hard at work all morning and when 1300 hours strikes, it's finally open for everyone to enjoy.

Each attraction will have its own thread. We've listed the people running shifts in the top comments as a reminder to those who signed up; feel free to make your character a thread for their shift even if you missed OOC signups.

Characters have different shifts which allow for everyone to enjoy other parts of the carnival as well instead of being stuck manning a booth the whole night. For the dunk tank, kissing booth, food booths, and talent quest it's best to leave your character's name in the subject of their comment to start off their thread indicating their shift/time onstage.

Proceeds will be going towards building and furnishing a student lounge for fun stuff, so most attractions cost money:
Kissing booth: 2 gil per kiss
Ferris wheel, bumper cars, carousel: 5 gil per person
Carnival games (throwing/shooting X at Y, water gun race, whack a mole, skee ball, Ring the Bell, etc): 1 gil per game
Face painting: 2 gil per person
Food stalls: Snow cones 3 gil, cotton candy 3 gil, and funnel cake 5 gil; "food from your home world" up to individual characters
Dunk tank: 5 gil for 3 balls, 10 gil for 10 balls
Fortune telling: 3 gil per reading
Marriage booth: 5 gil a couple
Balloon animals: 3 gil an animal
Wandering entertainers: Donations welcome
Judgmental Claire stare: 5 gil

Reno: Wutai (Japanese and Chinese) food (including sushi), Midgar-styled sandwiches and pizza, alcoholic drinks

Roy Mustang: Xingese (Chinese) dishes and Amestris desserts (apple pies, sundaes, etc)

Ellyn Vitner: Flame-seared beef on a stick

[It's 10 gil for the entire shebang, but Ellyn has marinated beef, pita-like slices of bread, and a surprisingly creamy sauce to go along with her spiced beef. She does make a show of searing the stuff up, too; her area is delineated with a five-by-five square where she does a few tricks as she cooks, while her customers wait. All in all, she figures it's a good draw.]

All'a ya step right up, y'ain't gotta be shy! Ya get yer beef sticks, bread an' sauce, an' ya enjoy, both this an' the rest of yer fair!

Awright, besides 'seared', how d'ya want it? Blackened? Still moo'in'? My favorite?

[Ellyn's "favorite" being 'seared enough to be tender, smoky, and full of spicy-sweet, whiskey-tainted marinated flavor'. She does burn off the booze for kiddies, however.]

You're the one roastin' it, you do what you think'll turn out best. So long as I still got my eyebrows when you're done!

[He grins, 'cuz he really doesn't think he has to worry.]

Ya sure ya can't use a li'l trim?

[He doesn't have to worry, true, but Ellyn wouldn't be Ellyn without a little verbal poke.

As it is, she grabs out four beef sticks, shakes off the marinade, and does a bit of stick-work as she flames them, spinning them around a bit and leaving fire contrails, before they wink out, leaving the outsides crispy and the insides tender. She slaps the beef in the flatbread, squeezes on a bit of sauce, and hands it over to Jecht.]

[Ellyn shrugs, because, well, it's pretty much old hat to her.]

[Jecht opens his mouth, pauses, closes it, then shrugs.]

Guess it ain't so strange for somethin' like that to be taught in school, considerin' what this one teaches.

Well, it ain't fer ever'body, not jus' anyone c'n walk in an' be all "teach me ta do this". Still, yeah, with how they teach stuff here...

[Ellyn just shrugs again, and grins.] What 'bout you, huh? I know ya teach swimmin', but that's 'bout it. An' don't ever 'spect ta see me 'round yer class. Sorry, fire an' water don't mix.

Me, I swim, I play Blitzball, an' when I need to, I kick ass. [He lifts a fist and flexes it, showing off some muscles to good advantage.] 'Course I can't do the second one right now.

[As Touma waits, there's a smile on his face at the fireworks. ~~SEE WHAT I DID THERE?!~~] I'll take two.

Sure thing, pal. How d'ya want the beef done? [Yeah, she's gonna ask everyone this question. But she's already plucking out a handful of beef sticks and shaking excess marinade back into the bucket in preparation.]

Both as mild as you make them [he's not really one for spicy foods, and Gaomon can't really take them], one rare, one well done.

[He pauses to watch her prepare them.] Are these traditional in your culture?

They sell stuff like this at th' taverns 'round my dad's lands. Sure, it's not cheap ta raise beasts in th' badlands, but raisin' crops is even harder, so. More likely ta get an old, stringy, dead critter ya gotta figure somethin' ta do with, ya know? Mom's lands are more fertile, so ya get veggies on a stick there, an' bread rolls, sweets an' pastries. I suppose I could'a done somethin' like that, but there's plenty o' sweeties around here, ya know?

[Also, Ellyn always did have a soft spot for her father's realm. That may have affected her decision a little. Luckily, she can work while she talks.]

These're from th' most recent batch ta go in th' marinade, so they shouldn't be too spicy yet. An' I put extra sauce on 'em, to cut down on th' bite. [And she also evaporated the alcohol particles. They're still going to be moist and flavorful--though the well-done one is more chewy than tender--but as requested, not too spicy or redolent of whiskey.]

[Applauds as she does tricks.] One, please!

Sure thing! [Though as she glances up from her work, her eyes widen for a moment.]

Nice hair, kid. How d'ya want yours done?

[Doing another trick while she waits, even, flipping a stick with a burning end in one hand, over and over.]

[Grins at that. Yes, his hair is awesome, isn't it?]
