But on that point, unicorn hair is one of the most common materials used in a wand, simply because they ARE so marvelously magical.

Hardly, hardly. A wand takes only enough hair to make a proper core. Unicorns have far more.

Depends on the length of the wand and the tastes of the wandmaker, of course, but surely you don't think a wand this length would strip a unicorn bald, do you?
