[Rita was all sorts of intrigued by this place. It was like nothing she'd ever seen, heard, or read of before. She'd read of other planes before, but never into any detail. Everything was new to her, the technology especially.

It was a strange place to have been sent, though. Was it purposeful, for her to have been sent to a school? If she weren't so overwhelmingly curious and interested in learning more about this place and everything in it, she probably would have done more to find out Bahamut's intentions in sending her to Balamb Garden.

For the time being, she's wandering around the garden, reading the letter over and flipping through the course catalog. She was trying to make sense of the courses, mostly, but also trying to decide which to enroll in. She'd never been in a school before.

As for everyone else, well, there's a young girl with a sizable pair of platinum-scaled wings. Even her clothes stand out a bit: her dress looks like the sort of thing a young noble girl of older times might wear, complete with jewels and other such shiny things sewn into it.

[Merlin is going to stand, blatantly gaping at her. The noble clothes and jewelry he's seen before - after all he'd seen Morgana wear such things often enough - but he definitely had never seen a girl with wings]

[Fortunately Rita had already gotten a bit of help with explanations of things, but there was still so much to learn, right? She turned to Nepeta when she arrived, staring curiously at her. She was certainly a strange sight.]

Yes, I did. [The slightest pause.] What are you?

[Rita is used to being gawked at, and this isn't too different. When she glances up to make sure she's on the right path, she notices Merlin staring at her. She turns to him, looking just the slightest bit annoyed.]

[Merlin starts, and his jaw snaps ship

I'm sorry, it's just...I've never seen anyone like you before. [and Merlin looks just a little bit wistful and amazed, as well as surprised. Her wings are amazing...]

[Troll? Nepeta didn't look at all like a troll. She supposed there was the gray skin, but that was it.]

Are you sure you're a troll? I've never heard of one being so small. And you certainly don't look very gruesome.

Yea, I'm sure. At least where I come furrom. I've heard that trolls are real diffurent in other worlds.

[The amazement from him is different, though. It's a little... strange. People were amazed and ecstatic about her appearance before, but that was because they wanted things from her. This felt different. Did he just... want to look at her?]

You're more polite about it than others have been in the past. I don't mind. I'm a human blessed with the inheritance of a dragon, and made dragonblooded. I suppose I might be a creature of magic; it's been some time since I put much thought to it.

A dragon? [And now Merlin is once again looking at her with surprise. He would almost have thought that having the inheritance of a dragon might mean she was like a dragonlord - but Merlin was a dragonlord himself, and he certainly didn't have wings.] How? I didn't think dragons could ever...well, make someone like you.

Yes, a dragon. [She might have thought he was just surprised about the dragon bit before he said anything else. She figured he was talking about her wings, since they were all that really distinguished her. She found she took offense to his wording of it, however. Her lips turned down into a slight frown, but answered him all the same.]

I was not made, I was born. Dragon magic is capable of many things. [She opened her wings slightly, to emphasize them.] These were given to me.

I'm sorry, it's just...I've never heard of anything like this, I don't know how it works. [Merlin looks at those wings again in amazement as she opens them] Then the dragons...made your wings? [he pauses] They're beautiful.

[At his comment about not knowing, Rita simply shrugs her shoulders.]

I don't know much about how it works, either. I never bothered to read about it. [And he was staring, and complimenting them. It was still weird hearing those kinds of things in sort-of normal conversation, and in such a genuine way.] Thank you.

It was just one dragon. Bahamut. He made them with magic, I suppose, but now they're just part of me. [She half-flaps, half-flutters them once, never actually opening them all the way.]

[She shows her to the Quad and finds a nice bench for them to sit at. From her brown backpack she pulls out the new laptops they've been issued and opens it up.]

Think of this as a sort of book. As you can see there are all sorts of buttons here with different numbers and letters, and then there is this screen and that's where everything is going to appear. It's a book that lets you do lots and lots of different things. When you want to use it, you first hit this button. [She indicates the power button, and press it to begin the start up process]
