[ action ] The Quad

[In some slightly off-the-beaten-path part of the quad today, there is a giant pie, and by giant, you could say that several grown men could fit inside of it comfortably--it is, however, oozing apple filling and not... blood or something else onto the grass, so perhaps that's a comforting thought. On top of said pie, there's a rather odd assortment of other baked goods: muffins, strudals, loaves of bread, cookies...

It's a surprisingly expansive list! The odd thing about the pile, however, is how nothing appears to be of the normal size; everything is either too big or too small. There are doughnut holes larger than your head, and yet, at the same time, there are cinnamon rolls you could fit on a fingernail.

Well, at least they taste good? If you're brave enough to try one at least.

Oh, right, there's also a guy seated a few feet behind the giant pile of baked goods, leaning against the base of a tree. He appears to be surveying the stack with mild interest as he munches on a cookie the size of a hubcap.]

[ That cookie is suddenly getting ganked right out of Zephyr's hands--and promptly disappears in mid-air.

Huh!?

[That lazy sort of look disappears from Zephyr's face as he looks to and fro, trying to figure out where his cookie went. Is he confuse? Very much so.]

[ Kiden stifles a laugh, biting into the cookie instead. There's a small crunching noise, and a few crumbs fall like dust motes.

Oh, yum. She's holding onto this for now.

She makes her slow way behind the tree, as her feet rustle the grass. ]

[Zephyr jerks his head toward the sound of the crunching--the sound of someone eating his cookie--only to find... absolutely nothing!

He rolls onto his feet, a little wary now, and tried to pick up on the location of whoever or whatever is wandering around him. Given how he's a pretty visual person, though, he fails rather miserably at it.

So instead he tries... summoning a whole bunch of tiny muffins, letting them fall in the general vicinity of where he had heard the crunching noises. When that fails, he just summons tiny muffins randomly. Maybe he'll get lucky?]

[Another newcomer is quietly staring at the pile of bake goods with curiosity.]

[ It's a good thing Kiden's mouth is full of cookie, because otherwise she would be making pretty obvious sounds of alarm!

She dashes away, luckily close enough to the tree that the branches prevent the muffin-hail from touching her. She hides behind the tree for a few seconds, knowing it's now or never; he's on high alert. She swallows the bite of cookie.

Slowly, silently, once the coast is clear, she tip-toes around the tree and makes her careful way riiiight up behind her quarry. ]

[Zephyr leans over from his spot by the tree, propping himself up on his elbow, to get a look at whoever's just walked over.]

Feel free to have some if you want.

[Zephyr's still looking around the tree, still making it rain muffins randomly. His eyes are darting all over the place now, even if he knows full well that he's apparently not going to be able to see whatever is creeping around him.]

Come out already, dammit...

[He mutters this, a slight frown pulling at his lips.]

[Rider's ears perked in surprised] H-huh!? O-oh no... it's okay...

Uh, you sure? Not like I can eat it all by myself...

[He tilts his head. She sure seems shy...]

[ Grinning, Kiden stands right behind him, stretching herself out on the tips of her sneakers, her lips ghosting less than an inch away from the shell of his ear--and her tongue darts out, tasting the flesh of his earlobe. ]

Boo.

[Zephyr yells, jumps, and backs himself up against the tree. He presses a hand against his ear; he could've sworn he felt a... a... tongue there a moment ago.]

K-Kiden!?

Yep.

[ Now completely visible, munching happily on his cookie, a few paces away, serene. ]

I gotta say, the whole summoning muffins thing? Useful.

[ Nom. ]

[He's referring to the lick, of course. Thoughts on her stealing his cookie are currently far and away.]

To make you freak out. It's working, isn't it?

[ Moves in, making a big show of creepering. ] Are you afraid of my girl cooties, Zephyr?

I--[It may look a bit like he's trying to escape into the tree as Kiden closes in. His mouth works for a moment, but no words come out.

Finally, he swallow and manages to get something out]--Of course not!

[ She watches him back off like she slapped him, her expression shifting into vague consternation. ]

What are you, eight? Dude, relax. You're still an ear virgin.

[Zephyr just sort of half-glares, half-stares at her for a moment before heaving a sigh. He relaxes minutely, but his back is still pressed firmly against the tree.]

You just surprised me. That's it.

[Lies, he speaks them.]

Right.

[ She takes a few steps closer, deliberately coming into his space, testing the boundary, challenging. Sorry, Zephyr, she's curious now.



And she still has his cookie. ]

[Rikku spotted a muffin about the size of a laptop and managed to get it! So she lugs it over to Zephyr, smiling.]

You do this?

[He may notice that she's wearing gloves.]

[He just sort of... frowns at her, cautiously waiting to see what she's going to do next. Instinct is warring with pride here, and it's a bit of a toss-up to see which side will win at this point.

That and he rather likes that cookie she's holding--Zephyr had actually managed to get the perfect flavor combo in that one. If she gets close enough, he might just make a snatch at it.]

Yep. Can't seem to make 'em a normal size yet.

[He shrugs and then points at her gloves.]

They're not exactly hot though, so I don't think you'll need those.

Huh? Oh, no, I'm wearing those because whenever I touch a computer or anything like that, it talks. It's....cool but also really annoying.

[She breaks off part of her muffin and starts nomming]

[ Unabashedly, she continues her lazy trek forward, still nibbling at the cookie held in one hand. With the other she reaches out, one finger coming to rest lightly on his belly through the fabric of his shirt. Is Zephyr ticklish, she wonders. The finger slides down, tickling his navel. ]

[He's not, but it may be a hard to tell since he goes for her wrist so quickly, snatching it away from his stomach. Puzzled, he swallows before speaking.]

...What're you doing?

[There's a faint note of fear there, but his grip on her is surprisingly gentle.]
