["Words" are better all this chick'd have to offer. It takes Damian a moment to reach Aang and Toph (mainly because he normally doesn't wear his Robin suit underneath his Cadet uniform), but when he does, he looks her over before giving Aang a questioning look.]

So this's the girl you wanted me to speak with?

Just think of me as a member of the audience, Toph.

Damian, this is my friend Toph. Toph, this is Damian. [He grins nervously and looks back and forth between the two of them.]

He didn't want me to talk to you at all. [Toph jabs Aang with her finger before pointing accusingly at Damian] You threatened Zuko, right? And don't bother lying, I can tell.

So you're a living lie detector? [Damian actually sounds impressed as he sets down his cadet bag - it's heavier than usual, so it goes down with a "thud" - and studies her more.] My friend back home's one of those too. Is it granted by "bending" too?

[Yeeeep, he's changing the subject.]

She can tell if you're lying with earthbending. It's really neat! When it's not used on you, that is.

And a whole bunch of other stuff, like tone and twitches and stop trying to change the subject. [She turns to glare at Aang, but speaks to Damian] I know one of Aang's friends threatened Zuko, and you'er the only one he mentioned. So come clean and I won't have to worry about breaking my promise to Aang.

[Eyebrow raise.] But I didn't threaten this "Zuko" person. You sure you have the right guy?

[Technically, he's telling the truth: Robin did all the threatening--and in Damian's mind, he just gave him a friendly warning, Bat-style.]

You didn't? [Aang totally believes him.]

Shut up, Twinkle Toes. [This time she faces Damian] Like I said, someone threatened Zuko. He said it was a friend of Aang's. You're the only person Aang mentioned when I brought it up. [But he's apparently telling the truth. Huh.] Someone better tel me the truth, or heads are going to roll. And I know Zuko didn't lie, so don't even suggest it.

[Toph starts bending some pebbles nearby, annoyed]

So what're you going to do to this "friend of Aang's" that threatened Zuko? Hit him with your bending? [Damian facepalms.]

Like that's a real incentive for someone to come clean.

[He winces at the facepalm.] Uh, Damian? She already looks kinda angry.

[Toph lets the pebbles fall and jabs Damian in the chest]

If he comes clean, I promised Aang I wouldn't hurt him. As much as I love fighting, I can get my point across without it. If he doesn't, first I'm going to make sure he never threatens my friends again, and then I'm going to make sure he never plays dumb again. Got it, Blockhead?

Now. Who. Threatened. Zuko?

[Staggering from the hit - though thankfully, he doesn't feel those pebbles - Damian steps back and folds his arms. Even if it weren't Ramadan - the one month where he's supposed to be non-violent - he still wouldn't have confessed under normal circumstances.]

Again, no one threatened Zuko. But if you're looking for the guy who warned him, I heard it was one of those costumed people. Robin or something? [Telling the truth here! Even if it doesn't seem like he should be.] Except he's on some slagged "sabbatical non-violent training mission," so he won't be back until September.

[So Damian did threaten Zuko. But Aang's not going to say anything about that, he can always talk to Damian later. Instead, he turns to Toph.]

Toph, you're threatening my friend for threatening our friend! You don't even know if he did it. Just calm down.

I'm not threatening him! I'm getting annoyed by all this pussy-footing! He obviously knows something. I already said I won't hurt anyone if the jerk comes clean. Why is he hiding what he knows? And why make a point to say 'warned' and not 'threatened'?

[But Toph does step back, even if she is fuming. If she finds out that Aang's hiding something from her, she will be pissed.]

And who ever heard of a 'non-violent training mission'. That kind of defeats the point of a training mission.

[He's seen angry people in his line of work. It's nothing Damian isn't used to handling. Quietly and softly, just as his parents (and his parent figures right now) would've done:]

I've told you all I know. Please, Toph, I would bring him to you if I could... but as it is, I can't. I'm sure Robin feels just as bad about this situation.

[He pauses after a moment before amending:] I'm sorry. If you want to beat him up, you're more than welcome to.

[Aang isn't really sure how to respond to this, so he just stares at Damian. Then he looks over at Toph, to see how she's reacting to it.]

Stop trying to patronize me or whatever. You're hiding something, I know it.

[Not amused.]

Let me clue you in on how annoyed I am. I get dragged from home to this weird place, thinking I'm going to be without my friends. Then I find out my friends are all here! However, three of them aren't talking since, because of this time stuff, Katara and Zuko didn't know Aang liked Katara and hooked up and Aang's being a wuss and not talking to them about it which is getting handled later.

Then I find out that one of Aang's friends threatened Zuko because he fell for Katara which, while I get and respect the sentiment, wasn't the best way to handle it. I make Aang take me to the only person he mentions when I bring it up, only to have this jerk patronize me. I was just going to ask what the plan was after threatening Zuko, point out how stupid it was.

[Extremely annoyed Toph is extremely annoyed.]

[Welp. He's really not sure how to progress here because well, there really wasn't a plan beyond "break into Zuko's room, warn him that Aang isn't fond of his tactics, ????, PROFIT!" and he really wasn't thinking about it. It just. Kind of happened.

He pauses for a moment, trying to think... his heart's racing a little faster, but he really can't say it's him because Robin was the one who broke into the room. Bruce would kill him if word got out of his secret identity---and right now, he fears old man Bruce way more than Toph.]

I'm not trying to patronize you. Really. If there was a "plan" after threatening Zuko, clearly this Robin person hasn't acted on it. I honestly doubt there was one. If there was, there would've been more mention of it over the gossip columns.

[now isn't the time for his usual snark or quips, so he eliminates them already:] I'm just saying, I haven't done anything besides let Aang here live in my room for a week. So I'm not really sure what you're talking about.

[This could all go very badly very soon. Time to attempt some peacekeeping strategies.]

Now that you mention it, Damian, I think I would have noticed if you left your room to go find Zuko. [Well, no, probably not since Robin is sneaky, but there's a good chance he would and besides, he'd rather handle this privately than let Toph have at him.]

And Toph, it doesn't seem like this Robin person did anything. I mean, sure, he threatened Zuko, which is definitely not cool, but he didn't attack him. Maybe he was just trying to scare him.

[Dammit, Aang! If she finds out you're hiding stuff....]

Why would he go to that trouble just to scare Zuko? Trust me, it's not that hard to do.

It's not? [This is so very clearly news to Damian.] Well... I don't really know Zuko, so I wouldn't have known that. Is he easily scared by stuff?

[Clearly, he's making a mental note about this for later.]

Are you sure, Toph? Zuko always seemed pretty tough to me. I mean...just look at his sister. [He shudders, remembering Azula.]

Trust me, I can find ways to scare everyone. [Shifting the ground beneath them usually works. So does making faces in the mud when someone's bending over to get a drink or something.] Anyway, breaking into someone's room is a little ridiculous just to scare 'em no matter what. That's what hallways and corners are for.

I guess so. [He feels really dumb now.] So uh... do you guys still need me?

If you don't, I'm gonna head on out and visit the infirmary again. [Granted, Day practically lives in the infirmary thanks to his dad being there, but it's the same idea?]
