[Being a newbie, Max is up to a few things as she begins to settle and familiarize herself with everything... She's already gotten over the shock of being pulled into a world that pretty much reminds her of a video game, but still. All new stuff. At least the tech looks pretty schway.]

Sequence A

[Max has just arrived in the Garden and is leaning against a wall near/in the Lobby. This is being done not out of shocked as when she first arrived in this world, but in an attempt to muse through her thoughts as she reread the letter in her hands. Still pretty glitchy, getting transported to another world, but whatever. Worst things have happened. So much worse.

After a moment, she pushes off the wall and goes to the Directory and ... What's that thing she put near it? It looks like a some phone or someth-- Is she hacking through the directory?! Well ... technically there's not a rule against it she's seen. So much easier to carry it around with her, rather than refer back to something, right?

...yeah, no, she's not gonna stop at just the directory.]

Sequence B

[Hallways to the dorms! Max knows she has a dorm (B209) around here somewhere -- shared with someone she has come to find out since the events of Sequence A -- and is taking a slow stroll through the halls to get acquainted with the area, papers and stuff in hand. Including a device that looks like a smartphone.

Man... there seems to be a lot of glitter drenched posters about. Something to do with a homecoming she heard something about? Talk about back to high school days. :| Interrupt her while she gets a closer look at one?]

[Rikku's been exploring since she got here, trying to figure stuff out, and she pauses when she sees the girl doing....something. She comes over]

What're you doing?

[Max glances up, not ceasing her operations with the black, square device. She just gives a grin, possibly a smirk.]

It's tech. I'm loading the data onto here, so I don't have to keep referencing the map or something else.

[Interest piqued! Rikku hurries over]

You can do that without wires?

[And the whole Time Compression really hits with that question. Smiling a bit wryly, she nods.]

If you can capture the right line, yeah, you can go wireless. 'lotta stuff in my world is. Not in yours, I guess?

Nuh-uh. Thanks to Yevon's ban on machina, we're worst off than we were a thousand years ago.

[In. Awe.]

[That...sounds horrible for so many reasons. Max pauses with a bit of a frown.]

Frag, no chance I'd be legal in your world.

[She notices the awe and when the device is done, she hands it over to Rikku, smirk reappearing.]

Technically, my whole...culture-slash-family wasn't legal. We ignored the ban. It's gone now and--ooh!

[Rikku is very carefully inspecting this doohickey]

And all of the stuff on the directory's on this little thing?

[A newcomer. Okay, Day's been through that before and he doesn't really feel like helping this one out----]

[Wait a sec.]

Max?! When the hell'd you get here? [HEADING OVER RIGHT NOW ~~for a hug~~ just to double-check. He swears. Really!]

[In the midst of her hacking, she glances up in surprise. The voice doesn't sound quite familiar, but it's definitely directed towards her. From what she's read of the directory so far, no one else has her name here. Or a similar one...]

Matty?

[That information you just said? Filed away. For what, she does not know, but it's filed.]

That and more; stuff from my world's on it. It's a Nano-Tab.

[She moves her finger across the screen to a little box and something pops up. She taps her finger on it again and the little thing starts playing some music (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3ZZIUTQYV4).]

[Rikku nearly drops the Nano-Tab in shock]

It's like a sphere! How'd you do that?

[akdnlfa Not that she couldn't repair it, but good thing Rikku didn't drop it!

Max makes a note to be a bit more cautious about what she shows someone when handling her things.]

Like it would with most comps, a button is pressed signaling a sequence code of action. Here, watch -- and don't drop it.

[She presses something on the screen and the music stops, returning to the original page. She then taps it a few more times and what look like the main interface for the Garden's computer terminals.]

[More awe]

That is so cool. And it's so tiny!

[Max seems to be pondering something, then speaks. It's not like hasn't offered to help someone out before, that's part of who she is despite it all, but something about this place makes her feel as if she should be a tad more on guard with this entirely new situation she's in. Hard though, with how generally nice Rikku is.]

I just got here with the whole time glitch goin' on and I dunno what the tech is like here, but if you want one, I could try to hook you up.

Huh? [Rikku glances up, surprised] Really?

[Oh dear god not this again. Damian screeches to a halt before her and folds his arms. Of all the people to get their names mixed up---]

Damian. Day-mee-uhn. You know, like Damian Razem...?

[If someone was taking a close look at the posters, that just meant they were new. Something Tim was still learning about, really. But not everyday someone comes in with something that looks like a smartphone (his own phone not withstanding).

He gets close enough, wishing that the black eye he has had gone away sooner.]

The Homecoming dance seems to be the only thing people talk about right now.

[ When Max finds her dorm assigment, she'll find the place occupied by one (1) bored-looking teenager, sitting idle on one of the stools in their shared common area. The smell of cigarette clings to her, but she isn't smoking. To Kiden's credit, Max's small room, previously occupied by Chie, bears no visible or odorous trace of occupation. ]

Huh. I was getting used to having the place to myself.

[She recognizes that he isn't Matt as soon as he gets close and can't help but feel a bit ... awful. On multiple accounts. She was partially hoping for a familiar face in all of this, though wouldn't want anyone to just be taken up like that. And then this kid obviously knows her, but she doesn't know him. Can't even remember meeting him before, and that question sounds kind of hopeful...]

Sorry, kid. I haven't heard that name before.

[Pause. Her mind goes through everything she's heard of so far about the Time Compression and multiverses.]

We could be from different times, though. Or dimensions, maybe.

Probably.

[She nods, glancing at the interface of the directory.]

This doesn't seem too dif.

[Max heaves a sigh, not yet turning around. Her tone is mildly sarcastic.]

Nice to know somethings translate cross dimensions.

[When she does turn around, the first thing she notices is that he's ... kinda beat up. What kind of school is this, no really, what. She raises an eye brow at him, giving him a bit of a look, somewhere between curious and suspicious.]

Be redundant to ask if you're okay, bandaged like that... Jeez. Tell me that's not the norm for most classes here.

Oh, that would be awesome. I only just got here, too, and I ended up picking 'computer science' for most of my classes--specialization they called it?--and...well...thanks to the ban...yeah.

[Max is torn between sighing and her general curiosity of knowledge and tech.]

Haven't even looked at the course book, yet. I just graduated from one place and end up here, taking classes for another. Can't tell if this is unschway or not.

[She's smirking, though, so it can't be too bad.]
