[Hope is having a good time keeping up with all his book heavy classes. And by that? I mean he's sitting with a take-out cup of tea at a table in the cafeteria two sets of books infront of him. His pad is lying open with his pen alternating between his right hand and his mouth and the page of course.

He sips the tea and rubs his eye. How long had he been here again? Yet he could not make Global Stratification exciting to him. The definitions the applications and everything about it was just not getting him interested like the other subjects. The system of inequalities between the countries of this world weren't really capturing his attention. But, compared to the Physics and Biology books on his table, it was more interesting.

Book subjects? Why did he take so many book heavy subjects. He drops his pen and puts his head on his paper. He takes a couple of deep breaths before sitting up to look at the door. It was warm outside... he thinks longingly.

However, Hope didn't realise that putting your head on wet ink is a bad idea. He now has upside down notes written on his forehead.]

[So, it's not a total waste, really. That, and...]

There's nothing wrong with asking for help if you need it, Hope. You know that, right?

I know Light.

[He smiles up at you.]

I'll talk to my instructor if I really can't get it to stick. Or maybe my classmates.

[A nod. She's proud to see he's learned that it's okay to ask for help.]

Your instructor would probably help make a study plan for you, but your classmates might have strategies you can use if that doesn't help.

Oh, I'm already a chapter ahead. But I figured since we were going over this in class I'd better make sure I get it.

[He wipes at his head again with the back of his glove not that it makes any difference now.]

I guess this just means I have something to ask about in my next class.

[He sighed. It's not often he didn't really get something, but when he didn't it would niggle at him till he stopped listening to his pride.]

But it's not going so well for you.

[Don't mind her, Hope. She's just surpressing the urge to clean your forehead herself, and that means sitting on the other chair that belongs to this table.]

You know...when I was your age, I had to ask for help in some of my classes, too.

[While she's saying this to prove to him that it's okay to ask for help if it's needed, it is true. Even Lightning had needed help in school sometimes.]

I know Lightning. I'm going to ask for help, it doesn't mean that I won't-- I know I'm being stupid about it. But it won't stop me from asking for help.

[He gives her a small smile.]

I wouldn't have made it this far if I hadn't asked for help.

Glad to hear it.

[And truly, she is. She's also making no comment about that "stupid" part: if he's realized it, there's no need to draw attention to it.]

None of us would have. Not even Snow could have lasted this long if he didn't ask for help sometimes.

Right.

[Hope smiles and looks down at his notes and shuts his books.]

I think I'm going to take a break. I've done the homework and there's no point in getting myself frustrated for no reason.

[With a nod, the faint smile on Light's face gets just that much wider and just a smidge prouder. Hope knows his limits.]

Take advantage of the weather while it's still good. You never know when it's going to rain around here.

Good idea. Winter might drop in at a different time here.

[Hope checks his wallet for gil.]

I still have plenty for a winter coat and stuff. And I get another payment in a few weeks anyway.

And it might hit harder than it did back home, too. [Considering she was moving a lot during the last winter, she's unsure of how a Balamb winter will go, so...it's just good to be prepared.]

You should watch some of the natives. When they start getting ready for winter, you'll know it'll be here soon.

I will. Damian has been here a long time, I'll just talk to him.

[Explanation needed Hope.]

Damian is my roommate.

[Explanation needed indeed, but even with that tidbit, the name is not familiar to Lightning. He must have gotten here before she got back and isn't in her class.

Either that or she's just terrible with names. Which is really the more likely option.]

Damian can be a little bit... grumpy? Yeah, that's a good word.

Grumpy?

[....Hope, perhaps you should explain to your big sis just what that means for your roommate. She might get the wrong impression otherwise.]

Yeah.

[Oh. Oh! No, not like that!]

He's okay. I like him. He's just... uhhh... Values his alone time?

[A nice way of saying he's a brat but a likeable one.]

We play cards sometimes.

[Values his alone time. See, that doesn't make her wonder about your safety at all, Hope. Much easier this way.

....Okay she still wonders. Just not as much.]

But there haven't been many problems between the two of you?

No. There haven't been any really. There was one time when I first got there that we had an argument. But that's natural for room mates.

[Hope is confident in his ability to sate Damian.]

Yeah. Live in close quarters for a long time and even family can get into arguments. [Teeny smile. She and Serah had their share of those back in the day, actually. It had gotten tense sometimes.

Though for now, Lightning, for all her over-worrying at times, is confident that Hope can handle himself and get help if he can't. He's a smart young man, after all.]
