When you're the best of friends~

[Those about on the Quad today will notice a rather unusual sight. For Angelo, Rinoa's faithful dog companion is trotting around the courtyard rather primly with a certain ball of yellow fluff perched cheerfully on her back. That's right Angelo is taking Rinoa's chicobo for a ride, which means that Rinoa has to be nearby.

Sure enough, there is Rinoa sitting underneath a tree with an open notepad balanced on her knees and a teddy bear on the book next to her. The teddybear will be familiar to some people as it's the same one she got on Valentine's day. What it is that she's working on so intently is up for anyone to guess though. Hearing Angelo pad up on quiet paws, she looks up and smile at her companions before Angelo trots off for another lap of the Quad.]

Be careful with Maria, Angelo! [She calls after her pet, glad to see that her dog has taken to the intrusion of the Chicobo in their lives all too well. Who knew the two would end up being such good friends?

Feel free to stop the dog or maybe pester Rinoa about what she's writing and rewriting so intently. The choice is yours.]

Now, you come here, Winona! Let's not bother that there chicobo, it ain't ours.

[Unfortunately for Applejack, Angelo takes interest in the other dog trotting over towards Winona curiously after letting out a single bark to tell Rinoa that she's found something interesting.

One bark is all it takes to get Rinoa's attention though and she quickly climbs to her feet before shutting her notebook. Bear in tow, she heads toward where she heard the bark originating to see just what Angelo's latest find is.]

Now, hello there, little doggy. You out here just to have a little fun with your buddy there?

[]

Howdy! This your dog, miss?

[Cue one Yorkshire terrier bounding up to Angelo and greeting her excitedly, before looking curiously at the chicobo, who is too high above Boi to sniff.

[Sharpay, meanwhile, grins at the teddy bear before sitting down next to Rinoa.] What are you working on?

[Angelo stops right in front of Winona, healed tilted to the side curiously. She's used to being the only big dog on Garden since Boi, Sharpay's terrier doesn't count considering how mall he is. Ears pricked forward she sat down intent to just watch the other dog for now. Julia though, had to fly up to rest on Angelo's head as her perch on the dog's shoulder became much more treacherous.

At the question from the stranger, Angelo turns her head and barks once before turning her attention back to Winona again.

Rinoa smiles and jogs over to close that last bit of distance.]

That's right, her name's Angelo.

[Familiar with the little dog by now, Angelo returns the greeting giving Boi the equivalent of a doggy smile as well.]

Sharpay! [Rinoa looks up startled before slamming the book she'd been writing in closed.] It's nothing important really, just something I've been working on that's all.

[Anyone familiar with the process would probably have recognized the haphazard scribble of someone hard at work on attempting to write a song even in those few seconds the pages had been in view. The blush that's already starting to grace her cheeks is also telling that to her at least it's not nothing.]

[Boi yaps, jumping up and down to try and get a closer look at the chicobo. It has been such a long time since Sharpay's chicobo...

[Sharpay smirks knowingly.] So unimportant it's a secret.

[Maria, realizing that she is the center of attention flies off Angelo's head and flutters down closer to the unfamiliar dog. It certainly didn't seem dangerous....]

That's not it exactly. [She smiles though, glad to spend time with her friend.] It's just not finished and I don't really tend to show them to people even when they're done.

[Boi isn't dangerous at all! Why, he just sniffs at her.]

Why not when they're finished? [Curiosity: Piqued.]

[ Dogs. She was never one for them, being in all honestly slightly terrified of them. Lalianna regards it with a tiny step backward, choosing instead to circle around and keep a closer eye on Rinoa. Curiosity got the better of her. ]

Seems you're rather busy there...

[The little chicobo apparently decides this means they're friends and she flies around Boi a few times cheerfully before heading back to sit on Angelo's head.]

It's just silly. [She runs one hand down the soft cover of the journal fondly.] It's just that writing them makes me feel closer to mom a little bit. [By now Rinoa's probably already told Sharpay about how she'd lost her mother at a young age. Julai's occupation as a singer/songwriter/pianist had certainly come up too.] Sometimes I pretend that it's really her giving me advice when I know just what words to use.

[Looking up, she closes the journal carefully.]

I'm not really that busy, just some writing.

[Standing up, she reaches back with one hand to smooth down her old duster fondly.]

I don't think we've met, I'm Rinoa.

[Boi makes a feeble attempt to imitate her. Alas, chocobo physiology is not dog physiology.]

Maybe her advice might be good for other people, too. [Fond smile!] It can't be worse than stuff I've heard recorded. [And Sharpay hasn't even heard Friday yet.]

[ Rinoa gets a nod back as a fan snaps open and Layla proceeds to fan herself slightly. ]

Of course we haven't. Just arrived, as the case were and I'd decided to take a look around.

You may call me Layla. A pleasure having met your acquaintance, Rinoa...

[ And a pause. ]

I'm... hoping your companion doesn't bite.

[Bulla spots Angelo trotting around with the chicobo before she sees Rinoa, but where Angelo is, Rinoa can't be far away. Sure enough, Bulla locates her and peers over Rinoa's shoulder to look at what she's writing.]

Homework? Or something for fun?

I wasn't expecting no other pup hanging around. Well, at least ol' Winona here ain't the only one! Not that she'd be feeling left out or nothing.

Don't think we met before. I'm Applejack.

Angelo's been here with me for a while now. I've only got one Quarter left until I'm Qualified to try the exams for SeeD.

[She smiles at the other cadet, leaning down to ruffle Angelo's fur lightly for a second.]

I don't think we have either. My name is Rinoa. So, are you an offworlder or are you from here?

[This apparently amuses the chicobo and Maria flies down to investigate her new friend curiously.]

I'm not sure if it's advise like that. I just feel better when I write about what's on my mind and sometimes when the words really come out right, it feels like she's there helping me find the words to say. [She smiles back though, glad for the reassurance.] You're probably right. I've just gotten used to not showing people, I guess.

[Rinoa jumps, the journal closing with a loud bang a it fall from er lap.]

Bulla!

[Someone clearly hadn't been paying attention.]

A pleasure!

I'm off Sweetapple Acres, just an hour shy of Timber. Just transferred out of Galbadia Garden last month!

Garden is a pretty unique place even for our world, but I hope you like it.

I'll try and remember that, it's nice to meet you Layla.

[At the question she smiles, whistling for Angelo to return to her side. Marie, the chicobo, decides that's a good time to go perch on Rinoa's shoulder for a little while.]

Not without reason she doesn't. Angelo's more than just my friend she's a fighter too. She's always saving me in battle, aren't you girl? [She drops her free hand down to stroke Angelo's fur lightly with a fond look.]

But to answer your question, no there's on way she'd bite you.

[Everyone knows Seifer's opinions on dogs. Well. Almost. Seifer wasn't really doing anything in the Quad, besides clearly scanning people to bully. As if sensing his own thoughts, Angelo makes her way towards him.

Needless to say, he wasn't pleased with her attention, paws on him and barking.]

Get off of me, Angelo!

[Still remembers her, yep. However, that doesn't mean he's pleased to see her back.]

[Angelo, either misunderstanding or ignoring what Seifer's tone was saying, just wags her rather short tail and whines up at him a little bit with a pleading tone. In fact, if anything hearing her name encourages the dog a little bit.

After all he's just like Rinoa in that he know all those good spots to itch that feel just right! How could she not want his attention?]

[Nope. Clearly didn't work the way he wanted. The pestering continues and Rinoa's nowhere to be seen and it would be really nice to just keep her away.]

Fetch? How about I throw a stick and keep you away?

[Can't believe Rinoa kept her around.]

[Angelo barks excitedly at the word fetch. She loves fetch! Fetch is great, but Rinoa doesn't have as much time to play fetch with her as she'd like. It's such a tragic thing really.]
