[It's late at night - close to curfew - and Tom's sitting on the grass in the Quad. Beer bottle in hand, he counts the stars before chugging down another sip or two. There's actually a lot of things wrong with this picture: for one thing? Tom's still on alcoholic probation. As in, he's not supposed to touch the stuff.

Yet he did. And he's currently on his second bottle. Crap.

Tom's not really one for talking - especially when he's in werekitty form - so he won't notice people right away. Still, it's a little hard to miss a 6' tall werepanther casually chugging beer like there's no tomorrow. He looks up at the sky again, double-checks the number of stars, and then... takes another sip.

So much for upholding his promises.]

Hey. [She looks at the seat he gestures to and feels unsure...before sucking it up and going over and sitting down next to him. She drops the catalog to the floor, along with the jacket she'd been carrying as well.]

Maybe. It's not too bad, but I prefer enjoying a view with my usual fifty-cent cup of coffee from down the street in...the city.

Just got here, then. [It's a statement, not a question--confirmed by the giant catalog beside her.] Garden's not that bad, all things concerned.

There're worse places to be.

I'm not so sure just yet. I mean...one minute I was in the city with my partner...the next, I'm here. But... [She looks back at Tom.] Guess you're right.

Definitely am. I've been here for... a year and a half now? [He's clearly not alright, but helping a newcomer's more important than wallowing in misery.]

So what do ya wanna know 'bout this place?

[Tandy doesn't respond to his question on her curiosity of the Garden. She instead looks at him slowly, clearly...and finally says:]

Should you be drinking?

[Oh. Oh crap. This girl's got some superpowers or whatever that lets her ~*sense the truth*~ or whatever, right? Tom sets his drink down.]

... Guess not. Why?

You really shouldn't drink. It's not good for you.

I know. Doesn't mean I'm not allowed to every now and then.

It been now and then. Time to stop. [She snatches the bottle away.]

[Whoa what. Tom actually snarls at her as he attempts to grab the bottle back.]

What the hell?

[Tandy hops up on the flat surface and steps back, holding the bottle away from her.]

You've had too much. No more.

[Oh it is on. Tom follows, lunging for the bottle] Nuh-uh. I can stop whenever I want to.

[With the best grace of of well-trained, hard and taught-so, ballerina, Tandy spins out of the way, tilting the bottle over to the plants, brows narrowing...the threat clear.]

You stop now.

[He knows when to give up--and this would be one of those times. Don't think that Tom didn't notice that spin, though.]

... Alright. Who are you, anyway? One of the capes from the JLA?

JLA? Is that like the Avengers? [She tilts the bottle back, no longer threatening to spill it.]

[he subconsciously makes grabby hands for the bottle, even if he doesn't reach for it.] I think so...? Justice League of America's been around for forever; they're a group of superheroes.

[Nice try. Tandy hops a step back, one one foot, and see that perfect balance?]

Stop it--Never heard of 'em. I know the Avengers, the Thunderbolts, and even the X-Men...

Wasn't doing it on purpose! [that doesn't help your point, Tom]

... I haven't heard of them, but that's prolly 'cause we're from different worlds. [still, he's excited - it's been forever since he's met another superhero] Do the people on your "Avengers" have secret identities and costumes an' all?

Yea right. It's ingrained isn't it?

[She huffs, but nods 'yes'.]

Some of them have their identities known publicly, and some of them don't. It's security and reason, after all.

[He's grinning really widely now] Then your world isn't that different from mine! Man, it's been forever since I've met another cape.

... You are a superhero, right? Because uh. If you're not, this would just be the most awkward conversation I've had in ever.

[Tandy beams proudly.] I am! My moniker is Dagger, but most civilians and children call me Tandy, which is my name. Tandy Bowen.

[She holds out her free hand for him to shake.] Nice to meet you... [She stretches out the pause for him to fill in.]

[he carefully shakes her hand; he's very aware of the strength he's got as a werepanther] Instructor Tom Bronson. My codename's Wildcat... and well, I teach Boxing here. It's good to meet you too, Tandy.

... Also, be careful in disposing the bottle. Students aren't supposed to know that they're on campus. [Yeeeep, setting such a good example for the kids.]

[Well that really is a strong grip. But she's shaken the hands of Captain America, Iron Man, and various other heroes and they all could have crushed her fingers between thumb and forefinger.] Tom. Nice to meet you...

[At the mention of the disposal of the bottle, Tandy looks to the bottler...then putting a dry oh-you-must-be-kidding-me glare on Tom.] Really. Well then. [She tips the bottle over into the plants...pouring out the alcohol.]

[He'd cry if he didn't fear Tandy's reaction. Instead, he just facepalms.] If that causes the plants to grow wonky, you can't blame that on me.

If I catch you with another bottle of this, I'll do as I please.

[Once the bottle is empty, she holds it back out to Tom, still frowning.] No more.
