[Since there was still about a week before the new term began, M'gann figured to take advantage of the down time to try some new baking recipes she had acquired after nearly turning the cook book section of the library upside down. Luckily Wally had agreed to help test some of her baking, and even help with the process; after all, he had said that baking was practically a science.

She's in the Home Economics room now, an apron tied neatly over her civilian attire and all the proper tools and ingredients laid out on one of the many islands in the classroom, and she's practically humming with anticipation.]

Alright! Which recipe should we start with?

[OOC: Since it's an open post, if anyone wants to throw their characters in then feel free!]

If you were not affected by Time Compression's latest stunt, then disregard this message. I assume you have nothing of interest to offer me.

The remainder of those who have unfortunately been affected, I would like to speak with you, either via message or in person if you so prefer. Particularly, I'm interested in whether or not you've showed a distinct lack of powers beforehand.

Those of you who have had prior abilities can rest easy. I have no desire to round you up for identification.

Okay, think the embarrassment from this weekend's died down enough for me to say sorry to anyone I kinda fell on. That happens even when I'm not drunk (someone spiked the punch. Who spiked the punch?) so...yeah.

Anyway, since the next quarter's starting soon, I was wondering who's specializing in Computer Science or Piloting? Or both.

[It should have been harder to get used to this place, Kaldur thought, and in some ways it was. But it's also another land away from home that he doesn't quite understand, and that is something he has become accustomed to.

He will make the best of this as he can and so Kaldur walks through the campus, trying to get used to the layout of the campus and see where the classes he was most interesting in taking the next semester were located. He isn't used to having so much time on his hands.

There is a pool here, isn't there. Perhaps he should visit it.]

How much for these?

[The shops in Fisherman's Horizon aren't all that whelming. At least the air here is clean compared to Gotham. It feels... weird. Nice, but weird. There's a young boy with dark hair and blue eyes browsing a little way's away from Drunkman Alley. He gets himself a pair of sunglasses — or tries to, until the shop owner makes a face and tells him there's a "problem".]

Huh? Oh — gil, right. Sorry, my bad.

[The kid takes back the American bills, rifling through his pockets for a few seconds before replacing them with a bunch of coins. Not sure if those shades match with the cadet uniform, but he seems to really want them... As soon as he's got them on, the boy seems more relaxed, hands back in his pockets as he wanders off.]

[Dick Robin Dick will be investigating various parts of the locale if you want to run into him! Setting up any sort of scenario inside the Garden is cool, too.]

(ooc: Neville! Are you here somewhere? Robin is your roommate. :D Want to meet up at the inn or anything?)

[Night has fallen on Balamb Garden; the halls of Garden are mostly deserted besides the stray student walking about, and even the usual faculty members are missing from their posts around the school. There's a certain festive energy through the air, the source coming from the happily decorated Ballroom located on the second floor.

At exactly 2100, as soon as the dinner rush ends, the Garden chime sounds and the intercom clicks on. The Headmaster speaks to the Garden.

The Homecoming Dance is now beginning. Your attendance is requested at [2F] Ballroom.

I repeat, the Homecoming Dance is now beginning. Your attendance is requested at [2F] Ballroom. The ball will run until 2400. Students leaving the ball after curfew are to return to their dorms immediately.

The ball and its festivities tonight are being sponsored very generously by the Garden Festival Committee.

[After the announcement, the intercom falls silent. The faint sound of music can be heard from the second floor of the building.]

[There seems to be a festive atmosphere all throughout Garden. Why? Because it's the Homecoming Carnival! The Garden Festival Committee has been hard at work all morning and when 1300 hours strikes, it's finally open for everyone to enjoy.

There's a map on the Directory which shows where everything is located:

Have fun, Garden!]

[OOC: As noted, this has been backdated to last Friday. So as not to exclude new characters who came in after, though, it can be assumed that their arrivals were backdated so they can participate.

PLEASE DO NOT POST UNTIL WE HAVE FINISHED PUTTING UP THE SUBCOMMENTS. Thank you! We're done posting the subcomments, you can go ahead and jump in!

EDIT: Also, we forgot to mention: Players can assume that characters take different shifts which allow for everyone to enjoy other parts of the carnival as well instead of being stuck manning a booth the whole night. For Dunk Tank and Kissing Booth, it's best to leave your character's name in the subject of their comment to start off their thread to indicate their shift. Thank you!

EDIT 2: FORGIVE US! We forgot to mention that there is a price for some of the attractions at the carnival. This is a fundraiser where the money can to go whatever the Garden Festival Committee sees fit; we'll let the players and their characters decide on that front. Here's how the pricing goes:

KISS: 2 gil each
CARNIVAL GAME: 1 gil per game
FACE PAINTING: 2 gil per person
FOOD STALLS: We'll leave this up to characters to decide.
DUNK TANK: 5 gil for 3 balls, 10 gil for 10 balls
FORTUNE TELLING: 3 gil per reading

We hope this clarifies things!

[Remember how last week everyone was singing the alphabet song while making pizza with spoons on their noses? Sometimes singing backwards?

On the counters there are feathered masks for everyone to wear, and beaks to put on. Yes, BEAKS. Similar to how a clown nose would go on one's face. On the instructors desk is an incubator with chocobo. Don't they look warm and cozy?!

But your instructor today looks rather serious.]

LISTEN UP!! [Oh, she's wearing some odd glasses with random feathers in her hair.] These chocobo eggs need LOVE and CARE! We're making snuggly beds for them, so PUT ON YOUR GEAR AND LETS GET GOING!

[Also on every counter are a whole mess of sticks, twigs, some glue, glitter, leaves, cloth, hay, yarn, playdoh…. She has her own example on the desk as well.]

We have to make them BIG enough for them to sleep in after hatching! [Walking up and down the isles, while giving everyone an evil eye.] If I see ONE twig out of place, you'll start again!

Sweet, I think I got this thing to work.

[Have one very pleased looking masked speedster staring into the camera.]

Today's your lucky day, Balamb Garden. The one and only Kid Flash has arrived. Like yourselves, I suddenly found myself here. At first, I was all "Dude, what even?!" You know how that hero thing goes. Places to be, people to save, hot chick that need are need of showing their admiration, and all that good stuff. Being here was definitely not in my plans.

But then I got a letter saying that some "Sorceress" [Adds in some air quotes]sent me here. Yeah, no. News flash for everyone who doesn't already know; sorceresses and wizards don't exist. It's all smoke and mirrors mixed in with some special technology. Speaking of special technology...

Who has two thumbs and works with the world's fastest hero, who is also a scientist and deals with future technology? This guy, right here. [Thumbs to himself.]

Point me in the direction of your scientists and I'll have you out of here in a flash.

[This evening in the quad, there is a large section filled with tables, lights, snack foods, baked goods, and decorated with an almost ridiculous amount of streamers and balloons. There's even a banner that says in bright red paint:]

for superheroes!!

[Impulse can be seen as a blur as he speeds around the area, making sure everything is set up correctly and ready for the party.]

((ooc note!: Every DC(AU) character in the game has received an invitation to the party regardless of whether Bart knows them. It is also an in-costume party, but don't worry! If your character doesn't have a costume, Bart can provide them with one. When commenting, either start a new thread for your character or jump around in other threads. Non-DC characters can feel free to crash the party (and if they ask nicely, Bart'll probably make them a costume). HAVE FUN GUYS.))

[In-between classes, Cissie's situated herself in the cafeteria with a notepad, pen, and a couple of books. With titles like 'Dating for Dummies' and 'A History of Balamb Garden', it seems like she's doing more than just homework. Every now and then, she glances up from her work to look around - and maybe to get a soda or two.

This time, before getting some more food, she walks over to the nearest table and points a thumb towards her stuff:]
Hey, could you look after my stuff for a moment? I wanna grab a soda.

Um... if you want, I could get you something to eat too! It wouldn't be a problem.

[Especially since cafeteria food these days've gotten a lot better. Now she actually doesn't mind going for seconds!]

[Knock knock, Bart! Cissie's standing in front of his door with a freshly-baked batch of chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. She'll need the cookies - or so she thinks - to actually say what she wants to say this time.]

If anyone reading this signed up for Oli's dance troupe while he was still here or would like to join, I'm interested in putting a couple of numbers together for Homecoming. That's only a week away, so you'll need to be able to commit to daily rehearsals, but I'm aiming for fairly simple choreography. There'd definitely be fewer rehearsals after Homecoming if anyone's interested in continuing after that. ♥

- Instructor Sharpay Evans
Vote Sharpay Evans and Tom Bronson for Homecoming Queen and King!

[Yeah okay so Sharpay pretty much lives out here for her open posts. Today she's not making the slightest pretense of marking: She's strutting around the quad in paths which probably look a little random and sometimes make nice corners for no apparent reason; occasionally she stops in one place and then goes to somewhere opposite her starting point and goes to the place where she stopped. Usually when she stops she marks something on a piece of paper, though occasionally she just frowns and tries her last strut again. Whenever she's walking, she's humming very quietly; not too many notes are audible.

[She's not always looking where she's going, either, so she may bump into people from time to time, with a quick--] Sorry!

[And onwards!]

[Knock-knock-knock, Dom. You have a visitor! An eager one, if that quick tapping knock is any indication.]

(ooc: backdating the BBS part to Friday! Action for today [Saturday])

Flyer embedded into the post + PM )

[Grell can be found in her room, humming softly. The door is wide open as she prepares for guests! Yes, she is wearing that outfit in the picture to Girls Night. Ears and tails. Because she can. There are healthy snacks: veggies, fruits, dipping sauces, cheese, sparkling water, regular water. And for once, her room didn't look like her closet vomited. There are also a whole bunch of blue paper roses pinned to the ceiling by strings. Not a red one in sight.]

[If there's one good thing about her line of work it's that it makes things like "You just got pulled into a different universe by a magic spell gone rogue" that much more plausible. After all she's already had her mind wiped once by a guy with weird mind powers and she's got a teammate from Mars. What's a little dimension hopping in the grand scheme of things?]

[That doesn't mean she's completely happy about this mind you, but frankly it could have been worse. A duffel with all her stuff over one shoulder, she glances over the directory carefully. Might as well memorize it now rather than later. She's already got that letter memorized after all for all the good it's going to do her.]

I thought changing from Gotham North to Gotham Academy was bad. Now I have to go to school in a completely different universe? [She sighs.] Didn't see that one coming.

[Come bother her? She might be grumpy, but she won't bite...unless provoked or your name happens to be Wally.]

[Sometime later on the BBS]

Has anyone been monitoring Time Compression and it's side effects? I want to figure out how likely it is for anyone else from my world to show up.

[Living here at Garden wasn't that unlike living in the Cave. Alright, so there was no hangar for her Bioship, or a high tech surveillance system she had access to, nor an android who served as their caretaker-- not to mention there are so many more people who live in the school compared to the two other people beside herself back in the Cave. But, she still had her own room in the shared dormitory where the other room was still empty, which was quite nice. It was hard work pretending to be normal all the time; a little privacy did wonders to lift the stress from her shoulders.

M'gann is in the common area now, sitting at the table with her books all laid out. The classes certainly were fascinating, but the workload wasn't to be taken lightly. She is in the middle of reading her 'Intro to Para-magic and Guardian Forces' textbook, nibbling on a cookie as she takes a moment to consider the paragraph she has just read.]

[Whether on Monday or Tuesday, the Home Ec classrooms are shut and locked. A note instructs students to go to the new basement classrooms.]

[Of course, students aren't normally allowed in the basement, but hey, the note's pretty clear.]

[Taking the elevator down and following the signs leads to an ominous sense of heat before it leads to the door. Opening that door makes it worse, as waves of heat and an absolutely delicious scent of thick stew pour out of a two-story tall pot dominating a kitchen that appears to have come from hell itself.]

[Rows of desks line up before a chalkboard. As the bell rings, the classroom... still has no teacher. The students are welcome to look around, talk amongst themselves, and wonder what's going on for all of a minute -- WHEN SUDDENLY--]

[A sun shines brilliantly in the heavens (even though they're indoors), silhouetting the figure of the Home Ec. teacher as he descends from above! With a crash, Mr. Champloo lands in the middle of the floor, then rises and points at the class.]

Kitchen Fist Fire Chaos Style! I, your Home Economics teacher, appear by the name of... Champloo!

[At once, every stove burner in the room bursts into flame.]

You all have embraced the path of cooking! And some other things covered in this class that are much less important. I warn you, the path of cooking is not for the faint of heart! You must have strength! You must have passion! You must be prepared to risk your life in the pursuit of the perfect dish! From this day forward you are students of the High Heat style of cooking!

At this time in my home, many would be celebrating a star festival... Tanabata.

One would write their wish on a small piece of paper and hang it on bamboo. The specifics aside from that vary, but I suppose I am wondering... What sort of wish would everyone make?
