[At 1000 hours, the intercom chimes.]

Good morning, Balamb Garden! I have two announcements to make this morning.

[Cid chuckles.] I'm glad to be saying that. There were times during my month away that I thought I would never get to make announcements to Garden again. Sol Invictus took advantage of my love for Balamb Garden by having a shapeshifter disguised as one of our own cadets lure me into their hands. While I was held hostage, all I could think about was Garden, and my wife, Edea, of course... I missed these halls, the looks of boredom and concentration alike on cadets' faces, the dedication of our SeeDs and staff, I missed my home... And when Sol Invictus fed me just enough of their leftovers to keep me alive, I wondered: Would I ever eat a Balamb Garden hot dog again?

[Someone else clears their throat, and Cid stops abruptly.]

I'm sorry, all, I got a little carried away. But I would like to thank you all for your hard work in stopping Sol Invictus from gaining control of our Garden and in our repair work over the last few weeks.

Now, my announcements... [There's a rustle of paper.] As Commander Zabala remains indisposed in the infirmary, the Garden Master will be stepping up to lead Garden in times of battle. There will be a ceremony for his arrival on Monday morning, so please report to the quad at 0745 instead of to your homeroom class.

Finally, I would like to give a warm welcome back to all of our returning cadets and SeeDs. I am sorry that you have come back to us in such trying times, but if there is anything that can be done to make your return more comfortable, please do not hesitate to ask myself or a SeeD. This is your home as much as it is mine.

This concludes today's announcements. Have a wonderful day!

[The announcement ends, and the intercom clicks off.]

[At 1000, the Headmaster makes an announcement on the intercom:]

Good morning, cadets and SeeDs! Today is the day you've been waiting for: the day that Homecoming Court nominees are announced. After tallying all the votes, the homecoming court will consist of the following individuals:

For Homecoming Queen: SeeD Maria Cyphert, SeeD Rainbow Dash and SeeD Grell Sutcliff.

For Homecoming King: Instructor Espio, SeeD Namur and Instructor Thatch.

For Homecoming Princess: Kory Anders, Fionna and Helena Oster [a girl you may have encountered in classes or staffing school events; she's in the GFC and one of the regular writers for the newsletter].

For Homecoming Prince: Russell Drake [yep, that handsome GFC member who does most of their BBS announcements these days], Portgas D. Ace and Douglas Thomas [a quiet cadet often seen hanging around the roof!].

Congratulations, Cadets and SeeDs! You may all now begin your official campaigns for the royal titles. Remember, the carnival will take place on November 8th and the Homecoming dance will be on November 9th, where attendees will vote for Homecoming Queen, King, Princess and Prince.

Good luck to all those running, and I hope you all have a wonderful day!

[Field exams are often publicly announced, but the date for this one had been given to those involved in private, via private message on the BBS and notes left in dormitories, two days in advance. While SeeDs Nida and Touma H. Norstein had been briefed in private, the cadets would only be briefed on the day, and were simply ordered to meet at the front gate at 0600 hours on Friday morning armed and in uniform.

[Once the cadets and Touma are assembled, Headmaster Cid and a faculty member join them for the traditional send off speech:]

Good morning, everyone, I hope you're doing well this early morning.

[He paces as he walks, eying each cadet and SeeD as he does so.]

This exam will involve three members. )

[As Cid finishes up, the sound of the Ragnarok coming in grows louder, until it lands below the cadets and opens. Nida soon emerges.] Everyone into the passenger room for your briefing.

[Briefly, he pulls Rainbow Dash aside.] Traditionally we let our piloting specialists take off on field exams, but as this mission is time sensitive, I'll be taking it this time. I'm sorry; I promise there is a place for you to fly later in the mission.

Well, that was a fun experience! It was certainly not as lively as back home, but cute none the less.

Do any of you have traditions similar to this where you are from?

[Annnd sometime later in the day, the Headmaster will find a little bottle of Lihau's sweet brew waiting for him with a little card tied to it.

"Thank you for the chocolates! Here is something that I hope you enjoy as well.

Does anyone want some extra candy hearts? I can't eat these and I don't want them to go to waste. I'll happily give them away to whoever wants them.

While I appreciate the gesture, I can't eat candy hearts. Please try to keep this in mind next time, sir?

[Under the radar just a tiny bit this time had been the announcement of who the SeeDs to assist in the exam were to be. After the announcement SeeDs Lina Inverse and Espio had been given their mission briefing. The candidates for the exam, on the other hand, would only be briefed on the day, and had two days to prepare.

[Finally, the day to prove that they too could be the pride of Balamb Garden was here.]

[At 0800, the intercom comes to life.]

Good morning, cadets and SeeDs! I hope finals went well for everyone who took them, and I'm sure you all have been looking forward to the break.

Garden will be relocating today to Obel Lake, where we'll be spending our break. Time for the last swimming you'll get this year, and some pleasant scenery. No special permission is needed to go beach or forest camping, but please let the faculty know if you'll be out.

There will be no official trips to Timber. If you choose to go into town, please do so quietly and discreetly.

Signups for next semester's classes are now available on the network. Don't wait to do your schedules till the last minute, cadets! SeeDs are now eligible to audit classes as well, so I hope I'll see you all learning some new skills.

VOTE FOR ME TO BE HOMECOMING QUEEN, AND I'LL MAKE SURE THE HEADMASTER GETS A SHINY NEW SWEATERVEST! :D

    [ACTION]

[Pinkie, dressed in a blue t-shirt with balloons on it (similar to that familiar cutie mark), a pink tutu-like skirt, blue and yellow striped thigh high socks, and pink sneakers is walking around Garden handing out lollipops with tags attached. Each tags says:

PINKIE PIE FOR HOMECOMING QUEEN! WIN OR LOSE, WE PARTY!!

As she gives them out, she's smiling brighter than the sun! But during off hours, she looks around in search of something. In her case, it's actually someone. One can tell by her facial expression that she's genuinely worried.

Hello SeeDs, Cadets, and Staff Members,

With exams and other things coming up this week, I wish you all good luck on your finals and hope that you finish this Quarter on a good note! :)

I must admit, I don't check the BBS often since it seems more useful for you than for me, but I still hope that you all will be able to make the most of it in the future.

Break this time will be at a location not yet announced, so look forward to rest and relaxation. To those taking the field exam this Quarter, I wish you the best and hope to see you as newly-minted SeeDs at Graduation!

    Best,
    Headmaster Cid

[At exactly 1000 hours, the Headmaster makes an announcement over the intercom.]

Good morning, Balamb Garden! I have two short announcements to make this morning. First, every single laptop has been returned to the dormitories by 0800 hours this morning if they have not been released to you sooner. The standard maintenance and repair operations went smoothly, and I wish to thank all the Computer Science SeeDs for all of their hard work this week. I know it certainly wasn't easy, so thank you for your time, dedication, and patience.

Secondly, I request everyone's presence tonight in the Quad from 2000 to 2400 hours. The Garden Festival Committee has graciously sponsored a bonfire with s'mores, campfire songs, and other similar festivities as we celebrate the coming of Spring. Although your presence isn't required at the bonfire, we do hope to see you there.

This concludes today's announcements. Have a wonderful weekend, and enjoy Holi!

Good morning, Balamb Garden! I have two short announcements to make this morning. First, I request all Cadets, SeeDs, and staff members to turn in their laptops by 1800 hours this evening in room 205 for some necessary repairs and readjustments to your models.

All CompSci SeeDs are also requested to stay in Room 205 to handle the acquisition of all laptops. Should a SeeD have a reason to leave at any point, he or she must confirm it with the highest-ranking SeeD present in the room.

I repeat, this is mandatory. All Cadets, SeeDs, and staff members are required to turn in their laptops in Room 205 by 1800 hours. Extra computer terminals will remain open for longer hours to account for the delay.

Good morning, Balamb Garden. It is 1000 hours on Sunday, August 7th. We will be moving to Fisherman's Horizon today at 1200 hours to begin renovations in the dormitory wing to accommodate our growing number of students as well as other upgrades throughout the school.

Due to the construction, all persons living in the dormitories will be moved to the inn to stay. Though we may be in a new city, we must stress that all Garden Codes of Conduct will be enforced even in the inn, including curfew. All SeeDs should be strict to enforce school rules as it is important to maintain a professional image to the citizens of Fisherman's Horizon. We will give two days for everyone to pack their essentials to take to the inn; please be prepared to move to the inn at 1900 hours on Tuesday, August 9th.

Classes will continue throughout our stay in Fisherman's Horizon, so please note that there will be a short commute of a ten minute walk from the inn to where Garden is docked at the harbor.

This concludes today's announcements. Have a wonderful day, Cadets.
