[Jet’s walking around, only half paying attention as he scans the letter in his one hand.  It’s about the third time he’s done this now, and nothing seems to be registering.  Which frustrates him more than worries him.  They can’t explain how he got here or how he got back, but they could leave a letter just to inform him of it, huh?  How convinient.
A little more aggressively than he intends to, he stuffs the paper into his pocket and lets his hand linger there.  He lets his other hand find the other pocket as he quickens his pace.  A thousand thoughts are racing through his mind, and by now he's practically jogging in hopes of a familiar face.  Were the others here?  He’d been fighting (with?) Aang, right?  Maybe he got sucked into this place or whatever.
Walking along the Fisherman’s Horizon, Jet goes to call out the names of his friends but stops.  What use would it be?  What if it would endanger them or somehow lure them here or--
Temptation gets the better of him and he ventures out more, frowning and pursing his lips.]

Guess this is home.

[When the feed sputters to life, it's to a very fine shot of the lower half of Axel's face. Somebody clearly has no idea what they're doing with technology.]

--is, stupid piece o- [Oop. It's flashing. He stops speaking abruptly, lips spreading into a triumphant grin.]

Soooo, Balamb Garden. The name's Axel- you might want to write that down somewhere. Now, I've got a very pressing question for you all concerning this military deal- where's option B?

[Yeah, he's serious. Well, probably, it's hard to tell.]

Everyone ready for finals? Who's still studying, and who's ready to go?

T. Drake

Option A: Cafeteria

[Tim was out of his room early; he wanted to get in some time to get some food and maybe go train before finals happened. After the carnival had happened he'd done the hermit thing that was common for him, staying in his room for awhile and making copious amounts of notes that needed to be done. Notes about people he'd met in this place, notes about classes, notes about the school.

A lot of notes and the profiles on his computer were always expanding, always being added to. Of course, it didn't help that he'd somehow gotten a cold during all of this. When Tim was sick, he didn't want to do much; luckily he didn't get sick a lot. Luckily. But having a cold here, where he didn't need to patrol or do much of anything, just put him down for a week and a half.

And while everyone else was dealing with powers, he still felt the same. It was almost nice, not to have anything crazy happen to him for awhile. He got in line for breakfast with everyone else, ready to pile on the food. Having an appetite after not having one was nice, too.]

Option B: Fisherman's Horizon

[After finals, and taking all the tests that he needed to, Tim was out to explore this new place. He'd been out there once, checking things out, but that had been just a cursory glance. This one was now an in depth look, and he was checking everything out. It was a pretty nice day out as well, all things considered.

And well. Being out and about after tests was always the bonus to taking them.]

Special Garden Addition!

Hello students and staff!
This is the resident gardener, Iroh here. I went on a small trip while I was gone and found a very special plant which I brought back to the Garden. There will now be a special addition to the QUAD AREA garden! It's a medicinal garden, very precious. So there are a few rules you will have to follow while you visit it.
    • No garbage thrown into where the plant grows. There will be nearby bins for that.
    • No liquids besides water.
    • No running through it! It is very fickle!
    • Curfew and other Garden rules still apply.
So please, no throwing hot dog wrappers in it! But it is shaded and would be very nice for a picnic or maybe a pot of tea. Hope you enjoy it!

Do you have any questions? Please put them here! I will do my best to answer them for you. :-)

[Yeah, there might be other open areas in Fisherman's Horizon, but Toph likes the quad.

Right now, it's pretty early, and she's going through her bending forms. They look an awful lot like this (also known as Southern Praying Mantis Style, for those Earthly kung fu junkies), but without all the rocks flying everywhere.

[Rolo, to say the least, is paranoid -- more so than usual, to the point all he can think about is that (or the lack thereof) as he sits in the corner of the cafeteria again, idly holding an uneaten sandwich with no intention of consuming it anytime soon.

Various persons had struggled with a multitude of odd problems as of late. Taking that into account, he'd gone to his dorm when Oz hadn't been around to try again and again, but to no avail. And that realization (why isn't it working?) is now eating away at him as he stares off into space, too engrossed in his thoughts. Frankly, it's irritating to no end and starting to put him in a most foul mood.

Then his sandwich catches fire. The sudden heat snaps Rolo back to reality and he looks down to see that . . . oh. His sandwich is on fire.

U-uh -- !?

[He extends his arm to hold the sandwich at a distance away from himself. Given the moistness of the bread, the fire hasn't spread much. More importantly, where did it even come from?]

[Anyone noticing Japan walking around the Garden today might take note of the concerned and thoughtful expression on his face. He wasn't sure what was going on, but it certainly wasn't constant. At the same time, it seemed obvious by now that he wasn't alone in his confusion or experiences.

If the look doesn't catch your eye (and that wouldn't be surprising, Japan keeps to himself quite well), those of you experiencing strange powers (or even your normal ones) might run into another sort of incident!

ooc / explanation: I'm giving Japan Empathic Mimicry for the event, which means that he has the ability to copy the powers of others and use them "at will"... Although, since it's such a difficult power, and Japan's kind of a clumsy guy, he likely won't be able to control it at all.

Just let me know what powers your character has, and what/how much Japan can copy! Then I'll make a scene. He'll be just about anywhere in the Garden, so don't be shy to choose a location.

If you'd rather Japan's powers didn't act up with your character, that's fine as well!]

[The Garden's really a sight for sore eyes. She's been away long enough that it brings her feelings of nostalgia, even if it's not really her home. It'll have to do and it's the best she has. Her first stop for the day is the cafeteria where she eats a terribly filling brunch (and her portions are nothing to sneeze at). She takes her time, watching the students and listening in on what she's missed while she's been away.

It doesn't take her long to hear about the carnival and dance. It's a shame she didn't know about it or she might have tried to get there sooner. Oh well.

The early afternoon is spent setting her things in her room and getting herself back in shape for the following day. She has a new routine she has to learn, after all. But as the day starts to wind down, she heads out to the quad to relax with a cup of tea.]

(ooc: feel free to spot her throughout the day in any of the locations mentioned!)

[There seems to be a festive atmosphere all throughout Garden. Why? Because it's the Homecoming Carnival! The Garden Festival Committee has been hard at work all morning and when 1300 hours strikes, it's finally open for everyone to enjoy.

There's a map on the Directory which shows where everything is located:

Have fun, Garden!]

[OOC: As noted, this has been backdated to last Friday. So as not to exclude new characters who came in after, though, it can be assumed that their arrivals were backdated so they can participate.

PLEASE DO NOT POST UNTIL WE HAVE FINISHED PUTTING UP THE SUBCOMMENTS. Thank you! We're done posting the subcomments, you can go ahead and jump in!

EDIT: Also, we forgot to mention: Players can assume that characters take different shifts which allow for everyone to enjoy other parts of the carnival as well instead of being stuck manning a booth the whole night. For Dunk Tank and Kissing Booth, it's best to leave your character's name in the subject of their comment to start off their thread to indicate their shift. Thank you!

EDIT 2: FORGIVE US! We forgot to mention that there is a price for some of the attractions at the carnival. This is a fundraiser where the money can to go whatever the Garden Festival Committee sees fit; we'll let the players and their characters decide on that front. Here's how the pricing goes:

KISS: 2 gil each
CARNIVAL GAME: 1 gil per game
FACE PAINTING: 2 gil per person
FOOD STALLS: We'll leave this up to characters to decide.
DUNK TANK: 5 gil for 3 balls, 10 gil for 10 balls
FORTUNE TELLING: 3 gil per reading

We hope this clarifies things!

[There's really no words to describe just how soar and tired he and his body both are. Everything from the waist up is... a war zone. His arms, chest, neck, completely covered in scratches and teeth marks so deep the scaring probably won't go away easily, and not even gonna mention that special carved symbol on his chest... Let's just say his entire upper body except his face and hands is wrapped in bandages right now, wrists to his whole neck, and he's even got a long sleeve shirt on under his school jacket instead of a short sleeved one.]

[He walks through the halls with a rather slouched posture, very different from his usual cocky one and he occasionally seems to stop and flinch, holding a hand by his torso, near where his broken rib is, only to suck it up and continue going, holding his bag under one of his arms, not using the strap right now because dear god that would hurt.]

[More hall wondering, and eventually he makes it to the quad and sits down with a sigh, opening his laptop and taking out one of his text books.]

[OOC: Feel free to bug him at any point in time during this, hallway to bench~]

[The camera switches on to a midshot of Mikuru, in civilian gear rather than cadet uniform or her battle waitress costume, clutching a small notepad with shaking hands. She looks kind of scared, too, but tries to perk up when she realizes the camera's recording.]

H... [She clears her throat and tries again.] Hello, everybody! [That smile's a bit better than before. Public speaking's scary, okay? Even on camera instead of in front of an audience.] I'm Mikuru, apprentice leader of the Garden Festival Committee, and I have a few announcements to make!

First, the winners of our recent date auction for the Centra orphanage: [She picks up another piece of paper and reads from it.]

We raised almost four thousand gil for the Centra orphanage, so thank you very much for your support, everybody! We hope you enjoy your dates.

[Page flip!]

Also, a reminder about the Homecoming carnival and dance approaching! The carnival is on Friday, with food from the different worlds, games, and activities set up all around Garden.

[Mikuru flips the page, puts down the pad and holds up a map for a moment:]

[When she puts it down, she smiles, looking a little embarassed.] Don't worry if you missed that! We'll have the carnival map up on the directory, and we'll also hand out maps around the carnival.

We'd like to thank everyone who's volunteered to run or be part of a booth so far! It's not too late to volunteer; we'll still be holding signups in the cafeteria today and tomorrow. After classes tomorrow, we'll let you know when your shift will be!

[Page flip!]

If you can sing, dance, play an instrument, or do anything else special, the carnival will also include a talent quest in the quad! The most talented performers as judged by the art and music appreciation instructors, Bro Strider and Sharpay Evans, will perform at the homecoming dance!

[Mikuru flips the page over again.]

The dance is on Saturday night in the ballroom. There we'll be voting for the Homecoming Court, so think long and hard about who you want to be your Homecoming King, Queen, Prince, and Princess! Also, each club will be represented in the Homecoming Court by a Beau and a Sweetheart, that is, one boy and one girl, so it's up to the members of all active clubs to decide amongst yourselves!

[A new page.]

The GFC will be meeting at 7PM for the next two nights to set up booths, decorations, props, and much more. It's a very busy time of year!

[Mikuru flips the page and looks surprised at it before looking back up to the camera with a smile.]

That's all for today! I hope to see you all at Homecoming!

[She leans forward to turn the camera off.]

(OOC: Hey GFC kids! Whether you play out helping the GFC or handwave it is totally up to you. ♥ Also, a note for talent quest participants: IC signups will be on the day but for ease of MC-ing, we're having an OOC signup thread here.)

[It's morning, and Rolo is seated in the corner of the cafeteria. A half-eaten porridge, a cellphone with a locket, a ring signifying Emerald sponsorship, an issue of the Balamb Newsletter, a course catalog and a small notebook lay on the table. Presently, Rolo is focused on the last two and scrawling away on the notebook over what courses to take as he refers back to the catalog every so often. His free hand rests on the cellphone, away from the reach of others.

He isn't all too keen about officially enrolling, but there's little else he can do and it may be better to take this approach until he learns more.

Magic and monsters, huh?

after lunch;
[Once course enrollment business is taken care of, Rolo heads to the dormitory he's been assigned for the first time. He stops in front of the door to A205. He isn't hesitating; it's only a place, he has nothing to pause about. Rather, the thought that someone else could be in there crosses his mind. A dormitory generally houses more than one person, doesn't it?]

(ooc: Feel free to hit him up in either location or in-between!)

Option A: Lobby

[Toph is leaning against the directory with her arms crossed, unamused. The letter and course catalog are by her feet, untouched.

She's blind, Cid. Why the hell did you give her stuff to read? She's just going to stand here and people 'watch' for a while. Passerbys are free to notice her bare feet or blank stare. If you talk to her, she won't look at you.]

Option B: Quad

[Later, after lunch, Toph is sitting against a convenient wall, apparently doing nothing. People walking by her, however, have a tendency to trip and glance back at the ground behind them, swearing there was a dip there only to find that the ground is just as flat as it's always been.

She's bored and making people look like idiots is entertaining.]

[As he's in the running for Homecoming Prince and Damian told him to start campaigning, Aang is standing in the middle of the quad with a box of fresh-baked cookies. He's introducing himself to everyone who gets close enough and anyone with the patience to hear him out gets a cookie and his undying gratitude.]

Hey there! As you may or may not know, I was nominated for Homecoming Prince...

[Cafeteria. Lunch hour. Monday.

Zuko's got his tray in front of him, seated off to the left of the line a few rows over. He's by himself of course, the rest of the seats available for anyone who so wishes to join 'Scarface' (as dubbed by Kiden).

Normally he's not in a chipper looking mood; it looks like today's no different. But hey ... when you have someone break into your dorm room and attempt to assassinate you in your sleeptry to leave death threats... oh and then your supposed best friend is depressed because you're dating the girl he wanted so bad...

Not the best past two or so weeks.

[After becoming a SeeD, normal people would probably celebrate until their little heads exploded, but Fang had always had a few screws loose. Her celebration consisted of hanging out in the quad. Strangely enough, she actually felt more relaxed here than anywhere else in Garden, except perhaps the Training Center - but there'd been too many people in there for her liking and she was in too good of a mood to tell them to get lost.

Instead, she sat near one of the only actual gardens in the place, listening to the faint hubbub of the others around her. It was far better than listening to lectures; oh thank Lady Luck she wouldn't have to hear any more of those. Well, in a classroom, at least. She had no patience for them when she could be doing something instead. At least here, it hadn't gotten her into much trouble, unlike her schooldays in Oerba.

Fang chuckled lightly to herself. After being here for a year, it felt like it'd been another lifetime since she was last in Oerba. In a way, it was, she supposed. A year was supposed to be forever to a l'cie, and yet here they all were like nothing had ever happened.

Strange how things worked out.

...Huh. Maybe she should have gone to the Training Center. She ended up thinking too much otherwise.]
[identity profile] redforehead.livejournal.com
[Aah, isn't it a glorious day!? The sun is shining, the sea is... full of salty sea-goodness, and not a single enemy bird in sight!

Yeah, it's not every day you cross some odd threshold where an infinite number of realities suddenly and inexplicably converge, and you're left standing in some guy's office with a piece of paper in your hands telling you how awesome and amazing you are with a faceless wonder asking you questions about your personal life.

Seriously, cabbages are a sensitive subject, okay?

But enough about that. Once everything's said and done and he's arranged his things in his dorm (which really means dumping them in a heap on his bed and sauntering right back out of there), Sokka's first aim - since he's been informed classes aren't until the day after tomorrow - is to hit that Training Center he's heard about. Because quite honestly, there's only one way to get over being separated from your friends and main squeeze without any warning.

And that's to throw pointy objects at strange foreign creatures and hope something lands.

Except, well... when he exits the dorm hall? He'll discover that the cafeteria is practically right next door to the dormitories. And if disguising himself as the shortest, skimpiest prison guard ever has taught him anything... cafeteria means FOOD! Probably limp, wilted and shriveled lumps of what could barely pass for edible, but at this point, he's willing to take that chance.

Sinking his boomerang into something can wait a few more minutes. Right?

Well... at least they think I'm a cool dude. That counts for something!

( ooc: So yeah! Feel free to run into him in the dormitory area, cafeteria, training center - or the corridors leading to any of them! And if your name happens to be DAVE STRIDER... well, first of all, I'm sorry. Deeply sorry. Second of all, welcome to your new roommate~. 8] )
